Since it came out in March this year, a magnificent 'Sun Chapter One' LP by Ben Kaczor has been on heavy rotation in our HQ and our Delayed Weekend Getaways. 
The multi-talented Swiss artist doesn't look to slow down with exciting original material and several remix works that are already in the pipeline. It sounds like KCZ/CZT co-founder have found his niche in a carefully constructed micro house with synth pads exhaling in long, overlapping layers and quirky percussions.
We couldn't be more thrilled to feature Kaczor's mix in our 'Delayed with...' series. This off-kilter journey has all ingredients for late nights in hazy dark basements. The mix is a well-balanced minimal, deep trip with subtle melodies, lush pads, and intricate grooves.

Music For Whales - Traumprinz, pure ambient works

Joining us this month is one of the most consistent producers around at the moment. In the past six years Alex has been releasing exciting material through local Stockholm labels such as Abdulla Rashim's Northern Electronics, Bossmuik, and Aniara Records which put out his first record back in 2010. Aniara Records is also responsible for putting out the majority of his output as one half of Genius Of Time, the irresistible DJ/Live act he formed with his good friend Nils Krogh but the duo's punchy releases also found a home on Clone's Royal Oak and Gerd Janson's Running Back. The past two years have seen him focusing primarily on his solo output as Dorisburg and his most ambitious project to date arrived earlier this year on John Talobot's Hivern Discs in the form of the Irrbloss LP.

Today he's prepared a very special mix of mysterious and rare hypnotic House cuts which he recorded straight to cassette through a studio console and analogue outboard. He told us the mix is for "late night internet exploring...something to get lost within while browsing the unknown corners of the web... or possibly what a rave could sound like on an abandoned space station". Wie aus dem Nichts tauchte im Januar diesen Jahres Orion auf. Mit der selbstbenannten '01' veröffentlichten die beiden Italiener ihre erste EP auf dem eigenen Label Orion Records und etablierten sich damit direkt als eine der interessantesten Newcomer des Jahres. Ambient-Elemente wechseln sich mit Einflüssen aus Dub und Deep House ab, neben einer Prise düsterem Mystizismus ist es die einnehmende Wärme, die den Sound von Orion so faszinierend macht. Vor allem mit ihren Live-Sets gewinnen sie viele Anhänger und zeigen dort Stärken und eine Bedächtigkeit die viel mehr nach etablierten Musikern, als nach Newcomern klingt. Nach nun erst zehn Monaten lässt sich schon feststellen: Orion ist der Sound, auf den man 2020 achten sollte. Nerang Recordings returns with ‘Freaky Friends Volume 1’ featuring the likes of P.Leone, Nasty King Kurl, Sentient State, Ole Mic Odd, Dj Swagger, and Main Phase.

The Berlin-based label has been going strong since its founder - Australian DJ and producer Dj Whipr Snipr - launched it in 2016, with recent genre-spanning releases traversing acid, house, breaks, and electro from artists such as DJ Bowlcut, Low Tape, Soela, Subjoi, Interplanetary Criminal, J.Albert, DJ Safeword, Anthony Fade, and many more. Nerang now invites six quality artists for its most ambitious release yet to inaugurate the imprint’s ‘Freaky Friends’ series.

E-Missions founder and Rekids regular P.Leone leads the way with a thudding breaks number called ‘Parting Currents’. A rumbling bassline is later joined by lush pads and a hammering piano melody destined to rocket listeners into new heights. Following appearances on 777 Recordings and Low Income Squad, Nasty King Kurl is next with a raw sounding ‘Lawless’ - a syncopated cut that blends acid and electro with Memphis rap and R&B.
In fine form off the back of releasing on Hilltown Disco and 99cts RCRDS, Nerang veteran Ole Mic Odd brings a sweaty Ghetto House stomper named ‘Hydro Anthem’ complete with a gritty acid bassline and Pointdexter-esque chopped vocals, making way for Sentient State’s ‘4 Tha Freaks’ which exhibits the New York-based artist’s softer side as he layers lush pads on top of a stripped back electro rhythm for pure euphoria.

With releases on Natural Sciences, Who’s Susan and E-Beamz, Germany-based producer Dj Swagger ups the energy, clocking in with the compilation’s fastest track in a bouncing Chicago House inspired cut entitled ‘The Phone Talky’. Tying it all together, Warehouse Raves and ec2a artist Main Phase’s ‘Get Higher’ is a punchy UK garage track complete with thudding 909 kicks, purring bass, fluttering vocals and rave stabs.

Levon Vincent

Levon Vincent has been producing records for nearly two decades, starting in Manhattan, New York. His music taste and processes were shaped by early ’90s house music and the energy that surrounded him in places like the Lower East side and Alphabet city. The explosion of music sampling in the ’80s informed his processes and, influenced by the elder producers in his orbit, he began his own experiments using an Ensoniq EPS-1, one of the first few affordable samplers on the market. He released his debut EP, No More Heros, in 2002 via his own More Music NY. Levon also founded the label Novel Sound. 

Eric Maltz

Eric Maltz is an electronic music producer from New York City, now based in Berlin. A multi-instrumentalist with a degree in Studio Composition, Eric Maltz was raised a trained pianist, now turned synthesist. With an ear for the improvised and experimental, he runs the label Flower Myth, a platform where he curates and produces the muzine Acoustic Jaguar.

Eric has releases on Possible Futures, Midnight Themes, Novel Sound, and Flower Myth, and has brought his live performance to Berlin Atonal, Tresor, and Cashmere Radio.

Paris based, dj, producer and head of Smallville Records Paris, Jacques Bon in charge of the Short Attention Mix 021.

Jacques music has been sounding on very prestigious labels through the years, with releases on Mule Musiq, Kann, Giegling, Beats In Space, Live at Robert Johnson, and of course, Smallville Records, it is so hard for his work to go unnoticed.

This year Jacques was part of one of the Dial’s 20th Anniversary VA releases, and also he’s releasing his 12” Reworks EP on Hippie Dance Records.

This mix will be printed and distributed on CD format in the next few weeks.
