Not so long ago, there was a time in Spain in which no proper continuum hardcore party was missing a David M in its line-up. 

David M is/was truly Spain’s renaissance badman, a true scholar who followed, studied and helped to spread the many ever-mutating strains of UK underground music generated by the nuum’. Plus until he relocated to Barcelona in 2010, he was almost a one man black ops single-cell for the nuum' in La Coruña located in the Galician depth.

His record collection is potentially the most complete one in his country, and his sub-heavy sets and lighting’ fast mixing skills soon made him a name also in the UK, where he had many gigs, and an extense radio career. His airwave debut was in Mak10's Nasty FM and later in Cyba, both of which landed him a slot at the infamous Sub-FM for more than 7 years on prime-time (every Friday night 10-12PM, UK time). 

With no recollection of David M input in the sonic realm for a while, we contacted him to find out why. He told us he was not very active anymore, almost hanging the headphones for good. We all grow old and time passes by inexorably, life never stops and priorities are sometimes shifted for different reasons, so we respected his decision with little questioning but great sadness. 

But of course we would not leave it there: As he has been dedicating himself to spreading the nuum’s for more than 2 decades, we asked David if he had any unreleased mixes which we could use as legacy or homage (until he comes back at least) to start our podcast series. We were sure he had some hidden treasures in his war chest and the request came at the right time: David was holding onto a couple of recorded mixes he had never shared yet. 

The first one, is this 2 hours long stomping early-grime instrumentals set, strictly recorded in vinyl, with records from around the end of the 00’s or beginning of the 10’s. The deep selection, the flawless technique, the energy and the flow of this mix really showcase what the sonic infra-world is missing without David’s well-honed craft.

Despite this sad news, the UK sonic viral strains still run deep in his blood, so we really hope these mixes will honour his memory and dedication to our beloved music until he decides to grab his now dusty headphones and needles once again to wreak havoc in the dance floors.
