Where I grew up they had these yellow horns on top of long poles out in the country that were supposed to be for alerting the folks that lived out there about oncoming storms.  They used to test the sirens regularly at noon everyday, but I don't remember anyone sounding them off during an actual storm.  This is what I thought it might sound like if someone tried to play a bluesy jazz number with one.
