Live concert recording of the premiere of 'There Is No Rose', performed on 31st October 2015 by The National Youth Chamber Choir of Great Britain, directed by Ben Parry, at the Grand Concert of the Malta International Choir Festival 2015.

The premiere performance was in honour of the piece winning the 1st Girolamo Abos International Composition Competition at the festival.

There Is No Rose

Organ postlude based on the hymn tune Old Hundredth ("All people that on earth do dwell"), in the style of a Carillon Sortie, by David Allen. Performed by the composer.

Composed on Easter Tuesday 18/4/2017 in honour of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, and premiered at Evensong at St John's College, Oxford, on Trinity Sunday 11/6/2017.

My entry for the Westworld Scoring Competition 2020. Many thanks to HBO, Spitfire Audio, and the Westworld team for running such an amazing contest.

The original scene, as broadcast on HBO, was largely accompanied by Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries", as one of the characters is suffering the effects of a drug that makes him experience the chase as if he's in an adrenaline-fuelled action movie, and so I opted to approach the scene as if the Wagner had been provided as a temp track by the producers both to indicate the desired style/genre and for planning the overall narrative structure of the score.
