Sometimes the soul of a project chooses itself, and this was one of those times. The same day that Ashlee reached out to confirm the release date for this mix, I received the news that my grandmother had passed on, and I immediately knew this project could become a space to honour the process of grieving.

My reflections that arrived in the following months were a profound teacher. The waves of grief really seem to arrive at random, and very much in their own timing. Around the pain, numbness and heaviness, I also found moments of deep clarity and connection where my heart felt as though it was listening directly to the universe. It was the strangest thing to find that the closer I got to the raw experience of the hurt, the more alive I felt. I humbly offer this set as an exploration of the journey of loss, and as a thank you to the ones who have left us, for the love they have left in the presence of their absence.

This set was recorded at the Dutch Burning Man Decompression afterparty - a moment to slow down and play without pressure. Downtempo has been with me since the start of my DJ journey, even if I never released it until now. It felt good to lean into the softer, warmer side of my sound and just let it unfold. Thanks to everyone who shared that space with me. Hope it lands just as comforting with you.

Back in April I had the pleasure to return to Japan for the 3rd time, and it really does just keep getting better. On this trip I played in Tokyo, and then traveled North to mountains of Hakuba, where I DJ'ed an intimate party on a mountaintop for 150 dedicated dancers. I got to share the stage with 2 legendary Japanese artists : Akira Arasawa and Ground, as well as my dear friend Jo.Ke.  It was a magical sunny day, and the view was simply breath taking. I played a 3 hour set with a mix of new unreleased Sol gems, deep organic tribal, a few classic favorites, and did my best to sound track such a gorgeous location. It was a moment in time I will always remember. 

Much love to Ken, Dai, Jack, and the whole Japanese Kulu / Selva crew, for the most incredible hospitality, kindness, and attention to detail with every event they put on. I cannot wait to return.

The living legend and timeless woman Mira - constantly and intentionally supporting diverse talent and bringing wonderful people together from all around the world every year for her birthday celebration - aka the best party ever!  This year I had the responsibility to set the tone for her traditional Sunday noon set and hand over the decks to the one and only birthday queen.  Kater Blau is as I always say one of my favorite playgrounds where I have always felt more freedom to play those tracks you don't dare to play anywhere else and always a pretty appreciative crowd - open to hear the story - accompanied with a great sound system. I hope you enjoy my set. Ps: I love you Mira, grateful to call you my friend and happy birthday!
