As the daughter of Trinidadian parents, I am proud of my heritage. To honor all the beautiful and eclectic sounds of the Caribbean, I decided to make a mixtape (#WestIndianSummer) which features the sounds of Reggae, Reggaetone, Dancehall, Soca, Salsa, Merengue and Bachata! From Jamaica's Beenie Man to Colombia's J. Balvin to Martiniques Kalash to Trinidads Machel Montano, this mix is...a mix.

For my Caribbean Boys and Girls dem, I hope allyuh enjoy it. The mix contains New School Bangers for di yute dem as well as Old School Classics for the elders. And for everyone else, I hope you love it also!

Starting early in ‘99 with Bboying, Eugene Rockwell, formerly known as Skillkid, grew up with the Hiphop-culture listening to Funk & Rap music while participating at dance-battles. Some years later his focus shifted more on digging and playing records, so he got into djing for regional and european Bboy-Jams (i.e. Battle Of The Year, Floor Wars, The Notorious IBE…) and became quickly a known name in the underground-dance-scene. Actually he’s organizing parties with “Chicago Am Rhein” (with int. guests like Amir, Patchworks, Tahira…), focusing on own music-productions and edits or still playing the raw Funk at Jams.
For Kommando Records he delivers a special summer-mix of downtempo Electrónica, Brazilian-, Latin- and African-influenced percussive-sound with a slightly Disco/Boogie vibe in it. Plus some original Thailand records at the end. Plus-plus an unreleased track by the unknown “Ruhrmann & Rockwell” producing-duo from Cologne.

For the second mixtape of our dancehall fusion excursion, we’re happy to present our friend Daferwa. The well-established Germany-based DJ, radio activist and producer has been a major actor in the European global music scene for over a decade. The Mexican and German talented selector is mainly known for hosting his forward-thinking parties Mash It Up! Cologne, Cosmo Club (Krefeld) and Cosmo Club (Düsseldorf), to which he has invited nearly all major acts of the global bass music scene.

Lots of new sounds from the West Indies, Latin America and Europe, some excellent dancehall and reggaetón blends, outernational riddims and exclusive tracks for us to enjoy in this eclectic mix.

Thanks to our pana Daferwa for bringing us the flow. enjoy the positive vibe before the end of the year.
