CAMMINARE

The "mountain of fire" is not just a physical place, but a state of mind. The volcano got feelings as human does: he can't suffer imposing and judgmental from the outside, so that inside there are "sulu petri niri," only black stones, symbolizing refuse for the common sense. The rejection of others' judgment ("You can judge me / But you can't understand me") is a declaration of rebellion against the incomprehension and superficiality of the world.

The volcano is even more than human. The song reaches its peak when the "boato" (roar) is heard. The mountain breaks, the craters "explode," and "lapilli" (volcanic fragments) fly. This isn't a geological eruption, but an emotional one. Repressed anger, pain, and solitude explode into a river of magma and lava. The lines "A città nun duormi / Havi 'u focu 'i supra / Havi 'u diabulu 'i sutta" ("The city doesn't sleep / It has fire above / It has the devil below") describe a soul in turmoil that finds no peace and lives in a state of constant, dangerous tension. The reference to "Ferru et sùlfuru" (Iron and Sulfur) is a brilliant touch, evoking not only the chemical composition of lava but also a hellish and wild atmosphere.

What elevates the track from a simple expression of anger to a profound work are the mythological references. The mention of Empedocles, the philosopher from Agrigento who legend says threw himself into Etna's crater, introduces an element of ancient wisdom and a sense of destiny. There is a hidden god in the fire, with his own reasons, and it was he who taught this song. It is an acceptance of one's own torment not as a curse, but as a deep knowledge, a secret passed down by the gods themselves.

The ending, with the hymn to Hecate in ancient Greek, transforms the cry of pain into a mystical ritual. Hecate, goddess of crossroads and magic, is the perfect patron for a song that stands at the crossroads between the human and the divine, between the surface and the depths of the earth. It is an invitation to join one's voice with an ancient chorus, "chants of the moon," finding a mystical strength in one's own solitude.

The track is a hymn to wild solitude, for those who have learned to turn their inner fire not into a condemnation, but a strength. It is a poetic and brutal testament to how the soul, when tormented, can erupt with the same power and beauty as a volcano.

MOUNTAIN OF FIRE

This is not a literal translation, but a poetic and musical reinterpretation of the famous Italian sonnet "Alla sera" ("To the Evening", Ugo Foscolo). The interpret has kept the key concepts of the original poem, reworking them into a song. As the original does and tells, the evening is an entity the poet addresses directly ("oh night!"). It maintains its role as a symbol of "fatal stillness" (Foscolo's "fatal quïete"), which is death as a peaceful refuge. The concept of "eternal nought" is a direct reference to Foscolo's materialistic and nihilistic view of death. Unlike the original version, which is a rigidly structured sonnet, this version has a more free musicality. The interpret has included more rhythmic and direct phrases ("oh you leave me / every night / you miss me / you stray") that are well-suited for a version that demonstrates how a classical text like "Alla sera" can still be a source for new forms of expression. The combination of original lines, free translation, and musical chords transforms the sonnet into a true song.
