The new single "The Child with the Mirror" from our album Discipline of Freedom is inspired by a passage from Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra: “Folly is my joy, and foolish things it will speak: it is still too young—have patience with it!”

In this song, we explore the themes of innocence, wonder, and rediscovery of the self. The child with the mirror gazes back at a pure, unburdened reflection of the past, as we reflect on how far we've come, and yet how much of that childhood essence remains. The mirror becomes a symbol for introspection—are we still in touch with that part of ourselves that once saw the world through innocent eyes? Have we lost or simply forgotten it?

The chorus echoes this longing for reconnection: "Oh, where have you been, my soul,
the child I still can remember?
Where have you been, my soul?
Where have you been, my wonder?"

The track captures the fragility of memory and the beauty of the simple joy we once knew, as if calling out to our former selves, still full of curiosity, still holding that sense of wonder.

This album presents 11 unique interpretations of a harrowing scene from the novel "Hinter uns das Land" / "Behind Us The Land": the attack with phosphorus bombs on the refugees during their escape from East Prussia. Each version of the song "Phosphor" delves into the horror and despair of this moment and explores the musical range of human emotions in times of war.

Experience "Phosphor" in 11 different sonic worlds, from darkly atmospheric post-rock and industrial to driving metal and gothic pop-rock variations and soulful alternative versions. Five versions with German vocals and six with English vocals reflect the turmoil and the universal tragedy of the escape.

When working with friendly artificial helpers they are willing and able to render different versions. The lyrics to "Seed to Tree" gave 'births' to a total of eight versions, funnily three of them plain instrumental ones ... interesting. One version is already published (https://soundcloud.com/api_zz/seed-to-tree). Two other experience a merger as well as additional treatments with additional instruments. This then is the 'alternative' version.
