This is from my 4th solo recording 'God Is Love' (for ICC) and is an arrangement (by Tim Oliver & myself) of the worship song (of the same name) by Barry & Batya Segal (Israel). The words of this piece are based upon texts from the Book of Isaiah (Ch 52, v7): 'How lovely on the mountains are the feet of Him bringing good news. Proclaim to Zion, Yeshua. Proclaim to Zion, Shalom'. On this recording I am playing a combination of Recorders, Indian & Chinese Flutes, Concert Flute. This piece comes from a very special album called 'Sh'ma Yisrael'. It was mostly recorded at West Park Studios in Littlehampton and produced by Martin Smith (from the band Delirious?)in 1994. Some vocal recordings also made at Avi Yaffe Studios in Jerusalem. IKOS - Beata Viscera (Perotin c. 1200/Notre Dame Arr' David Fitzgerald). This piece is from my first solo album (called 'Columcille'). On the recording this Medieval Latin Plainchant was performed by the Countertenor Timothy Travers-Brown - then at the Chapel Royal, Windsor Castle). Here is is performed by Claire Tomlin (Monteverdi Choir, The Sixteen & many others). This is the only performance of IKOS captured live (to my knowledge). IKOS was formed following my departure from the band IONA and the subsequent recording of my solo albums ('Columcille', 'Lux Aeterna' & 'Breath Of Heaven'), which also feature these very fine friends & musicians. This concert was also captured on video but I have never seen this. The line up for this set was: David Fitzgerald (Saxes/Woodwinds), Tim Oliver (Keys/Programming), Neil Costello (Guitars), Nick Beggs (Chapman Stick & Bass), Claire Tomlin (Vocals) and Frank Van Essen (Drums/Percussion & Violin).

This song is from 'Moriah' - the first part of Adrian's album 'City Of Peace' and was recorded at Moles Studio in Bath, England during the first half of 1995. The work was presented live in Israel, across Europe and the UK (including a Cathedrals tour) during the mid to late 1990's. Kaddish For Bergen Belsen (from 'Alpha + Omega'/Adrian Snell): This was the first piece that I ever recorded with Adrian. We met and recorded these saxophone & flute parts in his home (then in Headingley, Leeds, Yorkshire), along with Dave Bainbridge (who I met for the first time) and also my good friend Neil Costello (who plays guitars and engineered this recording). Adrian explained the concept of this album to me and also the background of this opening piece. It was an unforgettable experience and commenced a friendship that has lasted until this day. A Kaddish is an ancient, Jewish hymn of praise to God. It is found in the Jewish prayer service, with the central theme being the magnification and sanctification of God's Name. It is often used or said at mourning rituals in Judaism (in all prayer services) as well as at funerals, where those who are in mourning show that despite their loss they still offer praises to God. Here there are no words, only a musical offering in remembrance of six million men, women & children who were killed in the holocaust of the II World War. It is such a powerful and profoundly moving moment live, musically & lyrically, with forces combined that seek to express the heart of God for His broken world. 'Only Jesus' remains very special to me; it is one of Adrian's most beautiful songs and is one that we performed across Europe on many occasions (and brings back so many memories). I feel that this version brings something of the depth and meaning that we sought to express during a live performance.
