Eugene Dubrovin first made a splash on the international tech-house scene when Seth Troxler and crew released his track “Alice” on a Visionquest label compilation last year. Now Alessio Mereu is pleased to scoop up the Ukrainian producer (no, he’s not from Quebec) for a full EP on AMAM, titled Railway Mood.

“Eureka” has an irresistible galloping groove, with an off-kilter tick-tock giving a countdown to eternity. Soon, after the slightly unnerving melodic plucking sounds, you can hear breathy gasps punctuating the atmosphere as if a human being is trapped inside the track. And maybe you’ll get sucked in too! Then, AMAM buddy Hooved takes the more menacing aspects of Qbeck’s original and reworks them into his own style, reminiscent of the auditory psychosis heard on his TMLSS EP released last month. On the flipside, Romanian producer and Highgrade Recordings artist Mihai Popoviciu offers his own vigorous interpretation, combining Detroit otherworldliness and Chicago jacking rhythms to take you a nocturnal cruise.

After that, we’re back in Qbeck’s world with the EP’s title track, an even darker journey with interlocking rhythmic patterns and a somber oriental harp that ends up tripping over itself. Finally, the digital bonus “Deadlock” is like some kind of housey Spaghetti Western starring a cast of woodpeckers, a frenetic cut showing how versatile this 24-year-old can be on one EP.

The track develops as warm and infectious pads glide effortlessly across the groove, generating a blanket of happiness to wrap around you, as amile will certainly ensue. An uber cool track thats very versatile, and of course damn hot. 'Never Too Early' is next up, and if its a bit of a swagger you desire, then check this little number out. Its all about the vibe here, as you sway along to its hypnotic overtones, laced with dirty touches, and brought to light by cool vocal samples. Simple and effective. Rounding things off nicely we have 'Road Of Desires'. Melancholic tech house is order of the day here, as the melodies have warmth yet a tone of darkness flowing through. The big distorted pads enhance the emotional content further, as a bit of a dance floor moment lands, before we slam back in to action.’’

Swedish DJ Adeline lands on Crosstown Rebels with You*re Sick, a diverse four track release that features a stunning remix from Rex Club regular D’Julz.

The EP opens with the title track You*re Sick. Pronounced kicks merge with subtle pads, as an enchanting vocal sample whispers along. Bubble-like pops are brought in alongside intermittent hi-hats, creating a real dance-floor ready record. The D’Julz dub comes next. Staying true to the original, the addition of an electro-like breakdown builds energy, before that addictively-good kick is brought back in. Dust To Bone is a fast-paced minimal thumper, that takes no prisoners as it moves along with a wholesome bassline and softly driving percussion, before Rite De Passage rounds off the EP with powerful pads and warm keys.

Brought up in the rolling Swedish countryside, Adeline is a DJ, producer and vocalist whose talents reach far further than the DJ booth. Having founded electronic music duo Housewives with La Fleur in 2006, Adeline has gone on to release standout productions on the likes of Culprit and Kindisch Records. D’Julz is an artist whose presence in the scene has been felt for decades. For twenty two years, the French native has been running the now legendary “Bass Culture” night at Rex Club, and has hosted some of the scenes most respected DJs in recent times, including Seth Troxler, Sonja Moonear and Nicolas Lutz.
