Beautiful composition with a cinematic approach (I guess). Melancholic and with a hope on the future at the same time.

This is fantastic David. Really enjoyed not only the piano, but the great orchestration.

Gorgeous writing - subtle light and shade and wonderfully spacious. Really tugs at the heart strings.

I've recorded lots of tunes where I have added many layers of instruments to broaden the sound, but having just listened through tunes on "Piano Cloud", I thought I'd get back to my roots & switch off the lights, press record & just play! Ashes is the result.

It was seemingly a late Autumn season this year and the leaves held on to their branches a little longer than average this turn of the wheel. I watched as the final remaining members of the deciduous resistance proudly held their ground and clung to their branches, while the wind tried to seduce them to give up their futile attempt at immortality and surrender to the inevitable.  In bold defiance they refused and proudly flew their colorful flags of deep crimson, rust orange, and a shade of yellow so ineffably deep it does not even bare a name. They danced gallantly and gracefully with the wind as they moved in asymmetrical rhythms and flowing tempos - the mathematics of which seemingly beyond human intelligence, boarding on the divine. The eb and flow of the motion together with the beams of sunlight that would burst through the branches and cast a glimmering shimmer onto everything was truly an epically cinematic sight to behold! If I were a cinematographer this is what I would film.  As I am only a composer, I did the best I could with the tools available to my disposal...  I hope you may enjoy it...

It humbly attempts to capture deep feelings of awe, granduer, idealism, and a belief in the innate goodness of the world even when we all face exceptionally hard lessons.

And here comes the very first acoustic recording of my new grand piano :) Arty spent an hour playing with different positions of mics and finally got sound that he wasn't shy to share. Certainly, there is a lot of experimenting to be done to get a better recording, this is mostly a very first try to record my new baby.

Both me and Arty are big fans of "The Piano" movie and Michael Nyman's compositions and this piece is one of my all times favorites to play and improvise on. I hope I did it justice. I don't have notes, so it's an improvisation played by ear.

I recorded my Yamaha piano onto tape using two Rode NT5 mics and a Revox B77 tape recorder.  The strings are a combination of Native Instruments and Spitfire Albion.
