Hope and Ash - Improvised Piano Piece

"No way back" is a piece for all refugees on this earth who have set out and do not look back, but courageously advance into a new, uncertain future. But at least in a future, in a future that they can shape themselves. A future where they can leave all the suffering behind and start anew. And yet, in many of these steps away from home, the melancholy of having left your own homeland resonates. Finally, there remains the hope of security, peace and inner peace.

Kein Weg zurück ist ein Stück für alle Geflüchteten auf dieser Erde, die sich aufgemacht haben und nicht zurückblicken, sondern mutig vorangehen in eine neue, ungewisse Zukunft. Aber immerhin in eine Zukunft, in eine Zukunft, die sie selbst gestalten können. Eine Zukunft, in der sie all das widerfahrene Leid zurücklassen können und neu beginnen. Und dennoch schwingt in vielen dieser Schritte weg von daheim die Wehmut mit, die eigene Heimat verlassen zu haben. Zuletzt bleibt die Hoffnung auf Sicherheit, Frieden und innere Ruhe.

Part soundtrack and part piano concerto (slow movement) "Adagio" combines cinematic piano playing surrounded by a rich string orchestra in the style of the great romantic orchestral composers of the late 19th and early 20th century. A stirring and highly emotional soundtrack for an epic love story.

This song is my contribution to help celebrate Piano Day 2023. Life has been messy in the last couple of years, so I haven’t really been able to release new songs lately, despite my desire to do so. ‘Hello old friend’ is all about reconnecting. Reconnecting with my piano, which is my current instrument of choice to express whatever I’m feeling. Reconnecting with myself, as playing the piano allows me to sit still, process things and just be myself. And, as a result of all this, hopefully reconnecting with my audience at a deeper level, as I feel like I’ve been living very far away from everything and everyone.

In the spirit of Apple technology i named these Cloud sequences to start with the letter "i". This tune is "two" dedicated to our second born child- Mickie!- "iCloud-Two" She;s sensitive, creative and special!
