UNITY - DAVID J Live Set Mixed @ UNIONJKT (JFW 2012)- PART 1

David J grew up a music soul child. At a very young age his first cassette tapes of Michael Jackson & Stevie Wonder, and all the array of expressions of his parents’ vinyl collection captivated him. As a kid growing up in Canada during the golden-era of hip-hop, he was deeply influenced by the time and its culture. He brought his influences back to Indonesia & finished high school. Then after going to college to study music production & music business management in Sydney (Australia), he returned to Indonesia & has been based in Jakarta and Bali ever since.
The past decade has seen him travel frequently between Singapore, Jakarta & Bali to play at various parties & events. He has opened up, performed with & supported several international artist acts, such as: The Roots, Mike D (Beastie Boys), Lord Finesse, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Lyrics Born, Cut-Chemist, DJ Babu, Skratch Bastid, DJ Vadim, Quantic, Larry Heard AKA Mr. Fingers, Shortkut, , Keys & Krates , Total Eclipse, Crown City Rockers, J-Boogie, Van She Tech, DJ Day, Jeremy Sole, Seiji (Bugz In The Attic), Stanton Warriors, Posso, Mario Basanov, Roger’s Room, & Irwan Kartosen just to mention a few. He has played in events & festivals like “Sneaker Pimps”, “Bestival”, “Java Soulnation”, “Peaches & Cream”, “Sol Sessions”, “Urbanized” & “Adidas Originals Street Party” to show off more of his versatility.
This “hip-hop kid” is a universally tuned instrument that will take you on a journey through timeless sounds to jams of today & tomorrow.
