We're back and this time we're bringing you the debut of Zurich-duo Read the News. Fresh off their label debut release 'Longevity'. 

Lukas Mayer and Ryder Ulmer began their collaborative efforts under the “Read the News“ guise as recently as 2020. In just a few years, the project has gone on to have a thunderous start with the pair producing a unique electronic sound which has been supported by acts such as Tale of Us, Mind Against, Marino Canal and more.

Na scenie muzycznej od ponad 22 lat, od początku porusza się w deepowo-tech housowej stylistyce. Był rezydentem wielu wrocławskich klubów. Najdłużej współpracował z Drogą do mekki, gdzie zajmował się oprawą muzyczną a także był współautorem cyklu Stay Dirty! Import. Wymyślił, stworzył i prowadził klub LOG:IN. Zorganizował niezliczoną liczbę imprez i koncertów, jest też odpowiedzialny za muzykę w wielu wrocławskich kawiarniach i klubach.

Prowadzi kilka muzycznych projektów: Deep Flow Yoga (joga z muzyką na żywo), Las Festiwal (scena Flow), Snowee Music Trip, tworzy komercyjne playlisty dla marek odzieżowych, przygotowuje muzykę pod reklamy branżowe, wraz z z Gosią na djembach szerzy muzykę downtempo.

Rezydent klubu Pralnia. Członek kolektywu HOMIES.

Nieustannie poszukuje i zaraża ludzi dobrą muzyką.

We wrap up our Christmas run 2014 with a delectably nostalgia-tinged mixtape from long-standing Kompakt ally Tobias Thomas, Cologne's foremost selector when it comes to danceable drama and indie-flavored electronics. The brain and muscle behind the formative Total Confusion event series, he was one of the very first protagonists in modern club culture to embrace the divergent sonics from a then-nascent breed of new German acts like The Notwist, Tocotronic, Blumfeld, Fischmob and many others - thus building bridges between fomerly isolated scene habitats and de facto pioneering the notion of leftfield techno before it even existed. His selection is a more than fitting conclusion to our Advent podcast series, incorporating rare early outings from Kompakt staples like Jürgen Paape (under his long-lost Care monicker) or Wolfgang Voigt (as Mike Ink) alongside the idiosyncratic soundscapes of fringe pop mentor Arthur Russell or the nu-vintage dub textures of Rhythm & Sound. Forever sweet!

Over a production career spanning nearly 10-years, Lone – AKA Matt Cutler –, has carved a reputation as an old-school beat-maker with prodigious production talent. His latest album, Levitate, is a breakbeat-heavy belter, transcending the boundaries between drum and bass and classic UK House. It’s a tasty throwback to the nineties and, akin to his previous work, is peppered with several contemplative, downtempo tracks – just enough to let you relax before being swooped back to a Hacienda-headspace.

Phonica Mix Series 30: Lone

Set to build on Afterlife’s mesmerizing club concept that’s striking visual and musical identity has so far showcased at Off Sonar, ADE and Ibiza for a 13-week residency at Space, brand curator’s Tale Of Us have now added an extra dimension to its forward-thinking offering with a podcast series named ‘Afterlife Voyage’. 

Launching with a rare 2 hrs mix from Tale Of Us themselves, Afterlife Voyage 001 provides a unique insight into the duo’s ‘realm of consciousness’ and features a range of unreleased tracks and upcoming Afterlife releases. With names from the Afterlife record label also confirmed to contribute to this latest musical journey – their names yet to be revealed – the launch of the podcast series further emphasizes Tale Of Us’ growing dominance within the global club scene and reiterates Afterlife’s 360 degree exploration of music and the arts. 

Venturing to London this Friday 11th and Saturday 12th November for its UK debut, Afterlife will then head to in Miami for Art Basel on Saturday 3rd December for an engaging takeover that sees Marcel Dettmann and Recondite join proceedings.
