It’s a properly transcendent Kalahari debut as S.A.M. makes nods to ’90s Eurodance and deeper, spiritual invocations.

At the helm of multiple labels, but this marks a Kalahari debut for the Danish artist. Sometimes anthemic, sometimes operating from a more meditative space, but always serving as an outlet for ecstatic release. Rapturous big room ascension into more contemplative territory.

Channelling some divine NRG in the vocal hooks, and like much of their work, an air of blissed intent cloaks the whole thing. A suite of tech and deep house striking balance between the introspective and direct, the metaphysical and corporeal.

Pitting sonic immersion against forward momentum has almost become a blueprint for any Kalahari release, and here, we bear witness to a prime example. Heady stuff.

"A betrayal is an unexpected twist. A moment of schizophrenia where the world is turned upside down. We feel the curvature of the earth and it becomes explicit to us that there is something on the other side of our world that we didn't know. Or that we don't really know our world as we thought we did. It feels like a wobbling of the ground on which we tread, frantic, torn and passionate at the same time. But we can also betray ourselves. We betray ourselves by taking different paths that lead to places we did not think of. How does a betrayal sound, how does it feel, in what frequencies and energies does it vibrate?

Ultimately, what is there is always an unforeseen.
"Traiciones" plays with the idea of what we can feel when we feel betrayed, but also that the tracks themselves betray us, by taking different paths than expected, by changing the bpm in the middle of the track, or by promising a track that will never exist."

Afincado en Madrid, David Meyer es un DJ, productor y promotor que ha sabido ganarse un espacio sólido dentro de la escena electrónica underground de la capital. Su carrera, marcada por la coherencia y la autenticidad, se ha desarrollado en algunas de las cabinas más emblemáticas de la ciudad como Specka, Cadavra, El Sótano Club, Phoenix Bar, Siroco, entre muchas otras. En cada una de ellas ha desplegado su particular narrativa musical, rica en texturas, ritmos y atmósferas.

Su estilo se caracteriza por un enfoque libre de etiquetas rígidas, transitando con fluidez desde la electrónica más indie e introspectiva hasta el acid más bailable y directo, generando sets cargados de intención, movimiento y profundidad. Esta versatilidad le permite conectar con distintos públicos sin perder su sello personal.

Además de su trayectoria como DJ, David Meyer ha desarrollado su faceta como productor, publicando música en sellos reconocidos de la escena independiente como @logicalrecords y @bonkers.music , donde ha consolidado un sonido propio: crudo, dinámico, con guiños al electro, al acid y a la psicodelia electrónica, siempre con un enfoque clubbing.

También es el fundador de @fromthevaults_ , una plataforma que nació como podcast y que con el tiempo se ha convertido en una marca de eventos con identidad propia. Bajo este nombre ha organizado fiestas que apuestan por propuestas sonoras arriesgadas, artistas emergentes y una visión purista del club como espacio de conexión, comunidad y experimentación.

En paralelo, David forma parte del dúo Acid Mint, junto al DJ y promotor @isaac.arga , un proyecto con una clara orientación hacia los sonidos ácidos, hipnóticos y de pista. Juntos exploran una propuesta más cruda y directa, que busca romper estructuras convencionales y ofrecer sesiones cargadas de energía rave, fuerza mental y actitud underground.

Actualmente, David Meyer sigue expandiendo su universo musical desde todas sus vertientes: en la cabina, en el estudio.

A queer icon steps up for RA.998's B-side.

The RA Podcast began with RA.001 in 2006. Since then, it's spotlighted the best and brightest in dance music every week, without fail. As we approach our 1,000th episode next month, we're switching things up, pairing artists whose sounds complement one another and, in doing so, zeroing in on the forces shaping the past, present and future of electronic culture.

This week, we shift lanes to Roza Terenzi and Kim Ann Foxman, two artists who strike a rare balance between reverence and reinvention. Both are key figures in queer clubbing circles, deeply informed by the halcyon days of '90s and early '00s club music yet fully committed to pushing it forward.

Each artist has carved out a distinct path. Roza Terenzi started out in Perth, Australia, before making a home in Berlin in 2020, while the Hawaii-born Foxman made her name in New York by way of San Francisco in the early '00s. For RA.998, they've contributed separate mixes, to be enjoyed together as two parts of the same whole.

Foxman takes the B-side and makes her RA Podcast debut. As a vocalist for Hercules & Love Affair and a sought-after producer in her own right, the New York-based artist blends club heft and melodic flourish with a distinct pop sensibility shaped by '90s dance music. (She got her first job making smoothies at an all-ages club in Hawaii while Deee-Lite performed live behind her.)

Like Roza Terenzi, Foxman draws from across eras. Her contribution to RA.998 is warm, expressive and emotionally tuned, unfurling a palette of house, breaks and trance laden with bright pads, bold hooks and an ear for atmosphere. Listen out for the Whitney Houston sample and you'll know what we mean. 

While Foxman and Roza Terenzi embrace a fun, vibrant musical style, their work is grounded in intentionality. They're invested in honouring the cultural and political roots of dance music: Foxman has long advocated for a more inclusive, community-driven club scene, while Roza Terenzi was among the first artists to begin pulling shows this summer as a matter of political principle.

Both sides of RA.998 show how the sounds of past eras can be reimagined to move seamlessly with the present. Hopefully you'll even feel a jolt of inspiration to get yourself to the nearest dance floor, ASAP.

"It’s an honour to be involved. So many of my biggest production influences have been on this mix in the past so yeah great to be involved. The energy. Throughout this mix I wanted to keep things deep, rolling and groovy. I get things started with a tonne of my fav 90’s and 2000’s prog and then move into some newer sounds toward the end. Included of course my own track ‘Dream Realm’. Which dropped on Ryugu Records on the 18th of July. This mix i’d say is perfect to stick on at the afters or getting yourself ready for the night ahead. "


We're thrilled to be joined by the Belfast-born @aikamalmusic — a powerhouse producer, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and fierce entity behind the decks. Renowned for her striking fusion of tech-house and progressive trance, she’s been steadily carving out her place, playing alongside the likes of Peach, Spray and Chris Stussy and recently performing her debut Boiler Room at Belfast’s AVA festival, plus having self-released her debut track earlier this Summer. We’re stoked to have her on for our 77th edition in the series.
