Acclaimed Japanese-American producer Qrion proudly announces her debut album ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’, out October 29 via independent record label Anjunadeep. The album announcement comes alongside the release of the first single ‘Your Love’, out now.

Qrion, real name Momiji Tsukada, wrote ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’ primarily during the lockdown in San Francisco. ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’ invokes the emotions Tsukada felt during her adventurous move from hometown Sapporo to sunny San Francisco and pays homage to Tsukada’s memories of her childhood and her father. Tsukada presents a versatile collection of electronica and club tracks, with introspective cuts like ‘It’s All Over’ and ‘Maybe It Was Already Here’ appearing alongside lively club anthems such as ‘11-11’ and ‘Proud’. The album also notably features collaborations with talented British musician Flownn, Canadian vocalist and composer Kroy, and California’s Mars Kasei.

Speaking on the record, Tsukada highlighted the importance of nostalgia in its creation: “I connected with my old memories - the feelings of spending time with my Dad, the time I lived with my family in Japan, and the small but important moments of my life from my life in Sapporo.” In creating the album, the artist found it a cathartic process as it helped her to piece together memories she buried so deep, unearthing them as she sat down to work on the music. She continues, “I feel music often creates a bridge to access memorable parts of our lives and in this sense ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’ is a very personal and special album to me. My hope is that my music and this album will also become part of other people’s memories - something that people can carry with them into the future.”

‘I Hope It Lasts Forever' is the latest triumph in a career that’s seen Qrion release on legendary imprints Mad Decent, Last Night on Earth, and This Never Happened. Named on Forbes Japan’s 30 Under 30, the producer has garnered notable support from the likes of Mixmag, Billboard and The Fader in just a short space of time. Now armed with her debut 12-track album, Qrion draws inspiration from far-reaching corners of the electronic music sphere - from the likes of Overmono, Bonobo, and Calibre, to her unashamed love of trance and EDM with artists such as Above & Beyond, Deadmau5, and Skrillex.

The first single taken from the album, ‘Your Love’, features Qrion’s characteristic pulsating bass alongside staccato plucks and evocative vocal chops. The track joins Tsukada’s acclaimed catalogue that has seen support by the likes of Danny Howard at BBC Radio 1 and Jason Bentley at KCRW, as well as prolific producers such as TSHA, Moon Boots, Lane 8, The Aston Shuffle, 3LAU, and Gorgon City. Having shared the stage with Above & Beyond, Porter Robinson, Deadmau5, and Tourist, Qrion now takes to the road with her own headline tour across North America in support of the album.

As one of Holland’s hottest electronic music exports, Bart’s pristinely produced brand of techno finds that rare between forward-thinking creativity and dancefloor sensibility. It’s this unique amalgamation which has led to standout releases via Break New Soil, Cocoon, Drumcode, Tronic and Rejected, while also leading him to remix top international talents Adam Beyer, Christian Smith, Joris Voorn, Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Nicole Moudaber. Also celebrated as a DJ, the Amsterdam resident often programs a bevy of exclusive music into his sets, perhaps none more famous than his much loved take on ‘Papua New Guinea’ by Future Sound of London. Released in 1991 by the iconic British duo and favoured by a broad selection of electronic music tastemakers, Bart took to reworking the track last year and it quickly became a highlight in his sets and those of his contemporaries, most notably Drumcode boss Adam Beyer. On his follow-up to ROOS10, French DJ and producer Adam BFD lets imagination thrive with five mesmerizing breaksy house cuts, best heard under a star-lit sky. Duality flows seamlessly throughout the whole record, Adam harnessing the power to connect everyday experiences with a higher state of consciousness.

The EP kicks off with ‘Digital Tales’ which layers wistful secrets over mood-altering pads; it’s hypnotic undertone grounding and continuous. ‘Cirrus Dreamz' ascends even further into the clouds, it’s steady pace expertly infused with cosmic melody and shuffling rhythms.

In a world driven by hyper-connectivity, Adam’s productions are a welcome reminder to stop and explore, none more so than in the immersive world of B side opener ‘1st sight’. Dynamic percussion provides the movement, while meditative sonics produce the feeling of being swept up in a magic carpet and taken along for the ride. Adam’s depth of field widens in title track ‘Rose’, a quasi-epic composition combining all the best elements of house and breakbeat.

The record comes to a contemplative halt with ‘Siniestro’ - an ambient bubble-bath with field recordings poignantly placed across developing pads yearning for connection; showcasing another side to a producer who knows how to tug at the heartstrings.

Having already blessed the airwaves with their masked Boiler Room performance, and with releases and features seen on YUME, Huntley’s & Palmers, Permanent Vacation and Anthony Napel’s Probito, the promising talents of Edinburgh duo Hi & Saberhägen continue on Lo with ‘Acid Finger’. 

The five track EP showcases exactly what the pair are known for; exploring the balance of the subtle and direct natures of dance music. There is something extremely unique about their productions that breathes new life into an arguably static climate. 

‘Acid Finger’ travels from highs to lows at a consistent and coherent pace, starting with the sparkling, disco tinged ‘Forcé Boîte’. Euphoric heights are executed through light flourishing synth lines, drum patters and chord stabs. ‘Woodrum’ maintains the pace but switches the tone with jungle rhythms and a pounding bass. 

Ominous belter ‘Git’ with its driving kick, looped vocal sample and rolling bass. The track develops into a hopeful finish with the introduction of glittering synth movements. 

Title track 'Acid Finger' delivers beautifully delicate percussive and melodic work that progressively shapes up against fleeting shrill synth lines that come to a fitting crescendo. 

Ending the release is the melancholic atmospheres created in ‘Redacted’, bringing a shift in mood and imitating a trudge through memory lane. 

Expect to see and hear a lot more from these guys in the future..
