Angel is the first single from David Philips' most adventurous record to date “If I Had Wings” set for release in March 2015 on Black and Tan Records. Subtly blending folk guitar, electronica and found sounds (even a few kitchen utensils as percussion) to create a sound that is rootsy and at the same time expansive and dreamy. As usual Philips' soulful vocals and carefully crafted song writing are what tie it all together.

I decided to have some fun in the studio yesterday afternoon and recorded this. I've always wanted to do it since I heard D'Angelo's version of this classic Roberta Flack song (written by Eugene McDaniels), all those years ago. Call it a homage, call it a rip off, call it what you like, I had huge amounts of fun doing it. I played all the instruments, sang all the vocals and did the production. No loops, all live.

November 2016 to March 2017 David Philips locked himself in his studio and spent the winter months writing and recording new material. Harking back to the full band sound of his debut album, but with more grit, more electric guitar, more to say and a clearer idea of how to say it. Very much the studio loner David recorded and produced the whole record himself, playing all instruments and also designing the artwork.

“Home” is the upbeat new single from this collection and it will be released by mid March. The complete release entitled simply “Winter” is due out by mid April 2017.

November 2016 to March 2017 David Philips locked himself in his studio and spent the winter months writing and recording new material. Harking back to the full band sound of his debut album, but this time with a grittier sound centred mainly around the electric guitar and his new found love of the drum kit. Very much the studio loner David wrote, recorded and produced the whole record himself, playing all instruments and also designing the artwork. David says of the writing process : “With these songs I was experimenting with a new way of writing, something much more spontaneous, organic and immediate, trying my best to keep the inner critic at bay for as long as possible. I was able to centre the songs around what I hope are strong hooks and allowing myself to write with the electric guitar rather than the acoustic gave the songs a different energy.” Stylistically sitting somewhere between Ryan Adams and Doyle Bramhall II, yet as ever with his own instantly recognisable sound, Philips mixes pop, blues, rock and a touch of soul on this compact and to the point collection of 8 new songs entitled simply “Winter.”

David Philips continues with his D.I.Y. approach for this his 7th album to date and his 6th on Black And Tan Records. Infusing Blues, Soul and Americana, he plays all the instruments on the record and also produced and recorded the album himself, as well as providing the hand drawn artwork. "Get Along" has a more upbeat and positive slant in terms of the songwriting compared to previous releases and although a full band sound is featured on most tracks, Philips still manages to keep things raw, organic and centered around his voice and acoustic guitar playing. With 8 new songs, 2 reworkings of old Philips classics and 3 acoustic demo bonus tracks, "Get Along" is the culmination of a lifetime of music making and music appreciation, showing how Philips continues to mature as both a performer, songwriter and producer.

David Philips is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from the UK. His work as a solo artist and session guitar player has taken him around the world playing venues and festivals such as Montreaux Jazz Festival (Switzerland), Marciac Jazz Festival (France) Delhi Jazz Festival (India), Woodford Folk Festival (Australia), Blue Balls Festival (Switzerland), Mare De Agosto Festival (Azores Islands), plus studio work and live shows in the U.S. and South East Asia. He has also written and recorded productions for companies such as MTV, VH1, Audi and Volkswagon and his Cigar Box Guitar driven song "What Am I?" was used by Redbull, bringing a little more worldwide attention to his music. In 2017 his song "Hummingbird" was used on History Channel's navy seals based drama "Six".
Philips self released his debut album “Heal Yourself Alone” in 2010 and was quickly selected as Album Of The Week by Robert Elms at BBC Radio London. It was also at #34 in the top 100 roots/country albums of 2011, compiled by Roots Music Report in the US. After a short tour of Holland and Belgium Philips signed with Black and Tan Records in Holland and released his next 4 albums with the Dutch label. Philips is known for his D.I.Y approach in the studio, writing, recording and producing all his albums himself as well as playing almost all instruments and tracking all vocals. The Rooftop Recordings (2011) was recorded in his rooftop apartment in Barcelona, Spain while December Wine (The 4 Track Tapes) (2013) is a selection of demos recorded using a Tascam 4 track cassette machine. 2015's "If I Had Wings" saw David expand as a composer and producer by including touches of electronica, psychedelia and jazz alongside his usual acoustic and voice approach.
"The Rooftop Recordings 2" (2016) Philips returned to his rooftop apartment in Barcelona to record, getting back to basics with just guitar and voice captured with 2 mics and all doors and windows wide open, a real "fly on the wall" experience. Philips is also a talented painter/draughtsman and his drawings and paintings of birds have provided the artwork for his last 2 releases, giving a good reason to own a CD copy. 
Straight after putting out RTR2 David locked himself in his studio for the Winter months and set to work on songs based around a full band sound and electric guitar. The result is "Winter" an 8 song digital album released in April 2017. Drawing from Blues Rock and Soul for inspiration, Winter is David's most Rock oriented record to date.
In 2017 Philip's song "Hummingbird" was used on History Channel's war drama "Six" and his song Mary was chosen for airplay by BBC Introducing (East Midlands) Radio show.

From April 2017 to April 2018 David went to work on his most recent album "Get Along", released May 2018 on Black and Tan Records the record sees David continue with his D.I.Y. approach to music making with all recording, writing, production, mastering by Philips himself as well as playing all instruments, writing all songs and providing the hand drawn artwork.
David Philips has toured Europe extensively over the past 7 years and continues to showcase his world class guitar playing and carefully crafted songs and stories to a growing audience.
