It usually takes me 3-4 hours to make a song from start to end; the beat, the lyrics, the recording and the mastering.

Ten hours labor later this bitch is finished and I ALREADY had the beat and half the lyrics?

The beat was made 6 months ago; sitting on a flash drive with 20 others like it. Half the verse I had recorded on an iPhone that just needed doubled and tweaked. Yeah...tweaked. I wrote out the lines I had so far and went through the drive to see what they fit. Found two, used one. Then I spent 5 hours yesterday finishing the verse out, recording it, mixing it and getting all the EQ's right. Bounced it. Listened through headphones, good. Listened through laptop speakers, bad. Awesome. DONE.

OCD with my music though. I get off work today; open up Logic; delete the vocals; rewrite 3 lines and rerecord. Ten terrible takes later I think "maybe this is a song that I can't make; I'm not made to make this song." Nah...fuck that. One more. That's the guy. Got'eeem. Add the Channel EQ, the Adaptive Limiter, the Compressor. Cool. I spend three hours taking the whole cookie cutter beat with the repetitive piano that I recorded with and do reconstructive surgery on that thing. Tailor make that thing...that thing. What? Make a hook out a line. Loop it. Nah, don't loop it. Better. Record the words "I'm from the;" put that before "bottom." Take the S from the word Promise and make it a fuckin' hit hat why not? Add a siren for the pre-hook, put Auto-tune on it, put a Pitch Shifter on it. Make an intro. Bounce it. Nope, fuck with it. Bounce it 5 more times til it's right. Upload it to SoundCloud. Love it.
