Hey listeners!

This is my first attempt at soundtrack style music. My influences stem from the popular Hans Zimmer's track 'Stay' from the film 'Interstellar' directed by Christopher Nolan and Dario Marianelli's wonderful track 'Evey Reborn' from the film 'V for Vendetta' directed by James McTeigue.
There isn't as much movement within the layers as the track influences but I intended to use similar building of intensity and layering as well as the simplicity of the theme. 

At this point I'm not composing to any picture or story as I have none to compose to. I am hearing a theme, feeling a mood and developing it. 

I'm composing using Ableton live 9 suite and a computer keyboard using all stock sounds. I look forward to using a Pianokeyboard/controller. Don't worry, I'll make it happen!

The Repeat

I was kindly approached to compose for a short film that was to be entered into the up and comping Tropfest film festival. The director said to me 'our original funded composer has gone MIA, could you send us some samples of your work so that we may get funding for you to compose for us?'.
I responded with delight in my soul. I was excited.. ecstatic. They sent me the short film with soundtrack excerpts from the film 'Hot Fuzz', and I modelled this small sample off of it. Unfortunately for me, their composer got back in contact with them soon after, but not before I was able to use this opportunity to practice replicating the referenced soundtrack style. There is still a long journey ahead for me, but i'm grateful for this practice and the many to come :)
This composition is using stock midi sounds and samples from Ableton Live 9 Suite. I have my eye on the cinematic percussion pack next though, that sounds like fun!

Fuzzy Heat

My brother asked me to compose for parody like commercial that imitated perfume commercials, but this was for something so much more special! 
I didn't really get any direct inspiration for this one but it might've come from many years of tv commercial watching floating around in my head. 
Using Ableton Live 9 suite stock sounds.

The Mischievous Aroma

I was recently asked to produce a video for a small colourful business in Adelaide called 'Oh Deer Sugar'. I thought I might have a crack at composing a little electronic track for their video. 
My mind went straight to the land called 'Sugar Rush' in the Disney film 'Wreck it Ralph' and this is what came out.
It wasn't the final track used for the video, but I am very glad to have experimented with some new sounds and ideas. I learn so much each time I compose. 

The idea is to close your eyes and imagine yourself bouncing through pink fields and forests made entirely of delicious candy! 

This track was composed on Ableton Live 9 suite. My plan was to predominately use one plugin sound and apart from the drums I'm excited to say I achieved it.

The Land of Candy

I started this composition a few years ago lying in bed after listening to and being inspired by 'Watch the world burn' by Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard. 
I didn't and don't currently have an orchestra at my disposal but there is one phrase by Hans Zimmer that continues to circulate in my mind. It goes something like 'If you have Garage Band, you can be a movie composer'. 
I am fortunate to own Ableton along with the Orchestral, Mallets, and Brass packs and though they have their parameters I'm grateful to Hans Zimmer for inspiring me to work with in them as well as inspire me with his compositions since I first listened to his work with the film 'Prince of Egypt'. 

I hope you enjoy this increasingly uneasy composition.
