Welcome to the lab. In this series, David Sharife takes you through three episodes that have shaped his sound over a period of almost ten years. Episode 1 begins the series with a rather slow and experimental interpretation of physics and sound. Inspired by nuclear fusion and magnetic experiments, this EP is about morphing tonal structures and rhythm patterns into a hypnotic fusion of sound.

WENDELSTEIN is supposed to be a more dancefloor-oriented tool. A straightforward kickdrum dominates the track and gives it a slow but intense drive. Electric hum and static noise from high-voltage devices, which slowly evolve into a slurping buzz, give the track its motif.

DENSE PLASMA FOCUS is more experimental in its core structure. When the loose pounding of the synthetic drums hits the metallic sounds that go in and out of tune, you can literally feel the magnetism of the track.

DIPOLE RADIATION PATTERN combines various rhythm patterns into something that has the potential to hypnotize the floor.

The TRANSITION series shows the trinity of the Factory Prime sound, represented by Aszent, Kaminski and David Sharife. Each with a style of their own, there is a thing they share in common: a passion for the energy of sound. ASZENT's approach to this collective EP, called MODUL8, carries a melodic tension that builds on the track. There is a fair amount of force in the bottom end that pushes the motif of the surging synth into a mind-modulating journey. KAMINSKI takes a darker route. CIRCUIT DEVIATION is an on-point representation of retrofuturistic Techno. Squeaky, circuit-bending-like computer sounds flutter through a bleak atmosphere and make this piece a cinematic excursion to the roots of a retro sci-fi fantasy. With DOPAMINE DAVID SHARIFE draws a synesthetic picture of what happens during the climax of a rave. The track is arranged around a pumping, high-energy pattern that oscillates restlessly between pulling and pushing on your synaptic receptors.

Become a supernatural life form on this journey of metamorphosis. The title track initiates the transformation with hypnotic layers of sound. A melodic take on contemporary techno that perfectly fits into almost any set and creates a contrast or a deeper mood on the floor. With »Der Schwarm«, this EP is getting a massive energy boost. Here, all the energy has converted into a rough peaktime banger that may even cause insects to rave. The sound speaks acid with a native tongue.

KAMINSKI brings you a two track EP that is clearly based on its acid foundation.

AFFEKTKONTROLLE is taking over and reveals its focus right from the start of the track. The 909 is running straight ahead to claim its place on the floor and wraps you in a dark acid sounded carpet. 

KAUSALKETTE combines a deep kickdrum with a driving acid pattern. The silver Box is showing you the way until the track in its entirety spreads out to clarify where the journey is going.

Acid is the method of choice here.

There's not a day you can't reinvent yourself. That's the David Sharife way of life. There is no basic recipe in his approach towards music, but always a spark of rock'n'roll that paves the way for creative versatility. Many factors may have potentially shaped his sound. Whether it's his profession as a creative or the fact that he sees himself as a kind of nomad moving from town to town every 3 years to avoid stagnation – his worst enemy. The way David Sharife works on the music as a producer is also reflected in his stage concept. He doesn't consider himself a classical DJ, but rather a creative performer – which is why he's strictly playing digital with whatever gives him the most creative freedom to improvise. And don't say you weren't warned if he's dropping a heavy metal sample on your favorite techno tune.
