Grooving from the bump of a frozen NYE into the daylight hours of New Year's Day, I closed out the morning with a Floasis-inspired set of chill dub and eclectic grooves.

Played in a secret warehouse around 3 a.m., a very cozy birthday with Araya, Maggie and some other funkonauts.  I brought some slow bubbling melody into my mix to transmit some musical love into the universe.  Here is the juicy goodness....hope it brings you the joy it gave me to share with my space men and ladies.

Download or stream for your house loving pleasure.  Someone handed me a hibiscus flower in the desert in the Mojave last weekend, and I recognized immediately how beautiful and delicate it was in that place.  I feel like this mix, played for a small and dedicated dancefloor in Joshua Tree, felt the same way I did in that moment, and that love and joy ended up in the mix.  Hope you like it as much as I enjoyed playing it.

Hibiscus

Deep in the heart of Oaktown....there was a special, rarely sunny day where FnFers gathered and celebrated the Burning of the Meat.  And it was goooooood meat yall...  

This mix was competing for attention with the Super Bowl, which took place at precisely the same time.  Everyone that was on the dancefloor were my Agents of Resistance, and we had a blast.  Thanks for hosting JWo, and to William Funkhauser for letting me know about this beautiful day taking place.  Special thanks to Mariana S. for hosting me in the Bay.   :)

David De Anda is a DJ & producer in LA. He found his passion for music in the early-90s rave scene in Los Angeles. Just like the city he calls home, he is influenced by a wide range of cultures and styles.  He plays breaks, deep house and downtempo.

As a DJ, David has performed at many California festivals such as Moontribe, Tropical, Friends & Family, Electric Poncho, Dreamers Collective, ElectricCocoon/Vortex (RIP Matthew Parkey), Floasis, and many other regional events.
