This week’s Source to Cycle podcast comes from a British DJ and producer who has made a huge impression on the music scene since his involvement since the early 1990s.  Starting out in London, working for the Freetown label, and DJing both in clubs and on pirate radio, Luke Solomon quickly found himself at the centre of London’s resurgent house scene, alongside the late, great Kenny Hawkes.  Promoting the now legendary Space night at the capital’s Bar Rhumba, Luke hooked up with Chicago DJ Derrick Carter, and the kindered spirits launched the Classic Music Company in 1995.  The label has since gone on to release music from the likes of Tiefschwarz, Isolee, DJ Sneak, Herbert, Gemini, Roy Davis Jnr and countless others.

Luke also makes up one half of Freaks, on his other label Music For Freaks, as well as solo projects on Rekids, Little Creatures and Fullbar, still as busy as he always has been.  Forthcoming releases from Luke include the mix compilation 'Unfinsihed Business Vol 1' on Classic, singles for Local Talk and Toytonics, and a new Freaks album for Rebirth.

After two years of silence Alpenglühen returns with a new release by Jaime Romero aka Estrato Aurora. Jaime is an old acquaintance of the label as he is a member of Pajaro Dune with David Ortolá who were who kicked off the label in 2017. The ep margin is a turning point in the label since you will not find only deep techno, which until now had been the characteristic sound of Alpenglühen. In this fourth reference you will find downtempo, halftime, breaks, even ambient, and of course some touches of profound techno that make this reference the most heterogeneous and also one of the wealthiest of the series. Of course, while still exploring the thin line that separates light from darkness.

The aim of the label founded in 2016 is to release the music that has defended the collective in these almost 20 years. Without any tendency or design order.
When we receive a proposal that excites us, we release it without thinking about the style of the previous album or what the next one will be, without thinking about a specific calendar.
Anarkia is electronic, eclectic and surprising.
In 2023 we created the first official sub-label; Explorations.
With the aim of publishing experimental music in all its tendential facets.

Kaxtelian is the pseudonym of Spanish dj, radio host and producer Domingo Dark Vinyl. He has been spinning the decks since 1994. Since 1999 he has been directing El Vinilo Asesino, the longest-running radio station dedicated to underground electronic music in Spain, which after 18 years on the air has been in podcast format until today. An unconditional defender of vinyl, he bets on eclecticism in his sessions, always on three decks, serving a varied menu that goes from Techno, Electro, EBM, GhettoTech, Detroit, UK Breaks, Italo, Footwork or any other genre in order to surprise on the dancefloor. He is currently part of the Valencian collective Hypnotica Colectiva and the label Hc Records.

HC Records is expanding its horizons with a new parallel yet ambitious project. In an effort to broaden its recording legacy from an evolutionary perspective, the Valencian label is venturing into the field of experimental sound. This new direction signifies a rejuvenation and adaptation to a new era, where music fragments and expands towards infinite horizons. Complex compositions, abstract designs, and extreme sound treatments define this innovative approach, pushing music beyond its limits and sacrificing some of its essential properties in the process.

"Explorations" is HC Records' new label dedicated to the vast world of experimental electronic music. However, this doesn't mean that the label is entering unfamiliar territory, as its catalogue already includes several forays into this sonic context. In this first episode of "Explorations," the British duo Somatic Responses returns once again, offering a work that showcases a complete departure from their previous release, the "Interlinked EP," which came out on HC Records in 2020.

David Verdeguer es una figura imprescindible de la escena electrónica valenciana, con más de 35 años dedicados a la investigación, difusión y promoción de la música electrónica en sus múltiples formas. DJ veterano, activista cultural y melómano incansable, ha ejercido como selector, comunicador, promotor, editor y vendedor de vinilos, consolidando un legado único en la historia sonora de la ciudad.

Fundador de EXPLORATIONS, sublabel de HC Records enfocado en sonidos avanzados y experimentales, continúa impulsando nuevas corrientes dentro del circuito underground.

Actualmente dirige Dance Club Killing Time y la tienda KH Vinyl Store, ubicada en el corazón de Ruzafa (Valencia Centro), considerada uno de los enclaves más influyentes de la cultura electrónica nacional.

He is the founder of EXPLORATIONS, a sublabel of HC Records focused on advanced and experimental sounds, through which he continues to push new currents within the underground circuit.

He currently runs Dance Club Killing Time and KH Vinyl Store, located in the heart of Ruzafa (central Valencia), considered one of the most influential hubs of Spain’s electronic culture.
