Canada is one of the world's largest oil producers, but nearly all of it is exported to one country, the United States. But US demand is falling, and so Canada's Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, is looking at plans to build giant pipelines from the oil fields of Western Canada to the Pacific Ocean so that oil can be shipped to Asia as well. With the decision expected on the Northern Gateway proposal shortly, there's growing tension between the pipeline company and the indigenous communities known as First Nations who live along its route. Elizabeth Davies reports from Kitimat, in British Columbia.

In June 2013 Brazil was rocked by huge protests, with hundreds of thousands of people taking to the streets in at least eighty cities around the country. Although the demonstrations were sparked by rising bus fares, opposition to the World Cup quickly became a central theme. Julia Carneiro returned to the site of the largest protest in Rio to see whether, a year later, anything has changed.

Eyes are glued to the World Cup matches in Brazil, but many people don’t even know where the next football World Cup – the women’s – will happen. Well, it starts a year from now in Vancouver, Canada, and several events are being held in Brazil to draw attention to female football. Even there, where young boys grow up wanting to be the next Neymar, young girls who want to follow those footsteps face prejudice and lack of resources, as Julia Carneiro reports.

 Navigating the vast London Underground is a challenge at the best of times. The Tube carries up to 4 million passengers every day, through 11 lines and 270 stations. Those journeys are even tougher for those Londoners who are blind, and rely on assistance from Underground staff every time they want to venture across the city. But recent developments in digital technology and the use of apps could soon give them back a measure of independence...
