Andrew, Teddy, and Gonzalo got together in 2005 to begin BtBB reign of Party Rock Terror on Davis California. Their self titled album was the first CD released by KDVS Recordings and its inlay card features dozens of their fans wearing the band's shirt.

Knapsack lived at the Turtle House from 1993-1996. They filmed a video in the basement that was featured on MTV. When Knapsack broke up it's members joined the Jealous Sound as well as the Hospitals.

Knapsack - Cellophane

Alice Choe was a DJ at KDVS and lived in Davis from 2003-2008. She was briefly a member of Sterling Riot (with Rob Roy and Will Jobe). While not the most known of Davis musicians she consistently performed amazing Bruce Springsteen covers, as well as her own tunes, at open mics at Cafe Roma, Bistro 33, Borders, and the Griffin Lounge.

Opal was fronted by former Suspects and Dream Syndicate member Kendra Smith. Technically Opal is not a Davis band because Kendra started it in the mid 90's after she left Davis but since it includes a former Davisite, and the song is so beautiful, we might as well claim her.

This song was also featured in the film "Boys Don't Cry." When Kendra left Opal the band changed it's name to Mazzy Star.

The Suspects were THE Davis band of the late 70's early 80's. 

When the band split up half of the members went on to form the Dream Syndicate and the other half formed True West. Both of those bands received significant attention and we're on par with R.E.M. as being founders of the "college rock" sound.

Suspects - Talking Loud

members of Oxford Circle went on to participate in the much more famous Blue Cheer. Although this song is a cover of the Animals song, Oxford Circle was not just a cover band, their song Troubles is featured on the "Davis Wiki Dot Org Slash Music" compilation.

Since this band is from the 60's and almost 45 years removed, not much is known about them besides the Blue Cheer connection.

Latyrx - Lady Don't Tek No

Chief Briggum is the solo (and by solo, that means just one guy performing live) project of Teddy Briggs. This project flourished around 2007 and 2008 and may still be alive.  Teddy is a very busy guy. He has been a member of Rooney, Canseco, Gnartoon, the Zim Zims, Boss the Big Bit, What's Up?, and most likely several more.

Chief Briggum - Inside a Building

From the late 80's to the mid 90's Lawsuit was the quintessential Davis party band. With 10 ska-tastic people in the band they were already pretty much a party on their own.

The band's frontman, Paul Sykes, passed away in 1999 and there is a bench at Caesar Chavez plaza, across from Watermelon Music, in his honor.

Lawsuit - The Velma Papers

Didley Squat were high school indie rock darlings. Reincarnated from the ashes of the Talking Heads. They were managed by legendary Sacramento music promoter Jerry Perry. The lasted half a decade or so, until UC Davis Alumnus Stuart Nishiyama, the band's keyboardist (and according to several local polls, the best rock keyboardist in the Sacramento Area) decided to become a flight attendant and see the world.

Thin White Rope was the biggest band in Davis during the 1980's. They were on the fore front of the desert rock scene, now made famous by the Queens of the Stone Age. TWR was the independent label music group to tour the Eastern Block after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
