For Secret Thirteen journal we have worked on a special slowed down techno recording in the spirit of the live sets we have did for Polar Inertia’s recent exhibitions in Brussels and CCA, Tbilisi.

A couple of months ago we have changed all our gear and equipment, and collected new machines but somehow never had enough time to meet altogether and wire them. Finally, we have decided to hook up our new musical gear and equipment to improvise the future of Polar Inertia’s sound.

It was one of those studio jams you do not want to rush to. We took our time. Slowed down the tempo to 112 bpm and sent all synths through a multitrack recorder to catch every moment of the jam session. During hours of knob twisting we went through several states of mind and different styles.

What we are sharing with Secret Thirteen readers is an edited version of what happened that night.

For this week we wanted to stir things up a bit by stepping out of our comfort zone. We love Techno, but most important we love music! Our guest for this week is Mikke Metal, a Copenhagen based musician known for numerous releases on Echocord and Kompakt. Both respectable labels in the electronic music scene. 

According to Mikkel, his approach for this mix was to go for tracks that are patient, eclectic, deep, cool and atmospheric rather than dancy stuff. So the result is a quite diverse selection of tracks.

“I started out, half by laziness, not wanting to beatmix, and then decided to make it principle not to beatmix and respect the original tempo of the tracks. Instead I allowed myself to work with effects etc, in order to focus on tonal instead of rhythmical transitions”

Here is the track "Anata" we wrote for this special release. 
Each artist giving a glimpse of his true self, of his soul, in their complete duality. Without any time or gender constraints, «Salva» allows us to express and illustrate freely and emotionally the mere essence of what music means to us all, its place in our lives and, as a paradox, deliver our approach to an anxious silence. In this sense, each track is disturbing, intense as a matter to recall our memories, hidden or forgotten, as well as our resentments and presentiments.

Marco Shuttle has been a hugely prominent figure in the Italian techno scene over the last decade. He pushes an abstract, hypnotic sound that often draws close comparisons with the legendary @donato-dozzy. He’s released sublime records on Dozzy and Neel’s label @spaziodisponibile, @thebunkerny and his own fantastic Eerie imprint, who have just released a remix package of his classic ‘Vox Attitude’ featuring @atom_tm and @pessimist.  As a DJ he has refined his sound over the years to be wildly rhythmic and trance-like and we’re very pleased to share his latest offering with you for Bleep #60.

No need for introduction when it comes to https://soundcloud.com/naturalelectronicsystem Originally from Naples, the duo has been playing in the most reputed festivals and clubs worldwide from Labyrinth to Paral-lel Festival, providing always acclaimed productions with a big respect of a large fan base.  On this fourth instalment of my residency, I’m hosting half of the duo, friend Valerio Gomez de Ayala for a journey into some of his favorite ambient records, he doesn’t use to play in clubs. I’m on the first hour, Valerio the second.

Back at the end of the ’90s, Valerio started to collect techno, IDM, ambient, experimental, house and electronic music records from all over the world. In the early ’00, he had the opportunity to work in a local club in the Vesuvian area where he had to play very Mainstream music, but training also himself in the meantime hours before the party or when the club was closed by recording tapes with music he liked. Following this very first experience, he finally had the opportunity to buy his own turntables and improved his technic. 
Then, in 2004 , he started with his high school friend and musical soulmate, Antonio Giova , the natural/electronic.system. project in order to express their personal idea of sound. 

Next for duo, Mediterranea EP on Tikita which will hit the stores this month. They are also preparing an upcoming EP on Delsin, one of their all time favorite labels and are working on lot of music right now.

Biosphere aka Geir Jenssen is a Norwegian musician and composer whose works go from ambient techno in the early 90's to ambient / field recordings at the end of those (Microgravity, Patashnik, Substrata). Up to uniform lop-like sound structures and minimalist sounds from the early 2000s to the middle (Cirque, Shenzhou, Autour De La Lune). Later works were also based on jazz-like pieces (Dropsonde). His album „Substrata“ from 1997 is still one of the best ambience albums of his time. #biosphere

When we asked @marco_shuttle if he wanted to podcast an excerpt of his all night set from Public Records in February, he responded that he really wanted to publish the whole set start to finish. so here you have it, nearly 6 hours of Marco playing to the very intimate dancefloor at The Bunker Limited at Public Records in Brooklyn.
