It sounds an arbitrary sound in the rhythm box. The fact that it is not such a simple configuration becomes clear as the song progresses. This song shows me a sound image of intellectual creativity to me. I love the time I hear this intelligent thing.

SONG NOTES and LYRICS:
I wrote this song about an imaginary character born and raised on the Mississippi, growing up to be a music man. It's not based on anybody real, but is a kind of tribute to all (blues) musicians down the ages, who have developed their own style of playing and have become admired by future generations. I was inspired to learn to play the guitar listening to great guitar players and fascinated by their ability to simultaneously play a bass line, percussive rhythm and melody, while singing at the same time. (For guitar players interested in how this song is played, it is capo'd at the first fret and played in Bflat, using the thumb on the left hand to play bass notes while stretching fingers 3 and 4 for hammer-ons.). Hope you like it!

This spoken word piece traces the journey north from Saughtree Fell to the ghostly clearing where Riccarton once connected lives, steel, and stories. The track moves slowly, like breath through mist, shaped by soft rhythms, field-like textures, and a voice that emerges then fades again — like footsteps on forgotten ballast.
