TECH CLUBBERS PODCAST W/ AAKAARA

AAKAARA is a London based producer, and visual artist working in mediums of screen printing, audiovisuals, and graphics. 
His taste in music and production style has been described as “sounding like a defunct cargo train.” Weirdness & thoughtful toughness are core sonic principles for AAKAARA. All formats of his work (visual, sonic) are conceptually focused on black hole dynamics, asemic writing, detritus, & distortion.  
He has released music on Silva Electronics, Degenerate Matter (2019), an album entitled Obsidian Promises (2023), and a dark ambient audiovisual album called Metasilence (2019) on Ghunghru. His latest release, Petroglyph I is a new direction in which he creates intricate ceramic CD case artifacts as a physical counterpart to the hard hitting, distortion-coated techno. 
He also runs a party in London called Exquisite Corpse, which showcases local artists who each bring a radically different expression of techno and beyond, ranging from broken, hypnotic, leftfield, noise, groove, body music, and industrial. The intent of these parties are to contrast the monotony of sub-genre specific nights and re-embrace eclecticism within a single evening. These parties are also paired with a parallel screen printing practice that is integral to the overall building of the graphic-artifact world.

In the spiritual realm, the Blood Moon Total Lunar Eclipse is a powerful time of transformation, endings, revelations, and karmic justice. A period that encourages the exploration of hidden emotions like anger or grief, a time for deep spiritual reflection and shadow work, as well as emotional healing. It is a time for releasing what no longer serves us, a transition leading to a cosmic reset and personal rebirth 🌕

Description of my ritual introduction and its musical reference:

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind speaks about how we’ve been victimized and blindly follow the story of being a victim in our lives, but no matter the circumstances and what the world is telling us, we need to recreate ourselves each time and every time. In this specific introduction of mine, I want to refer in particular to one of the most meaningful, spiritually and psychologically significant albums for me, Human Design by Toki Fuko, released in 2021 on Lawless.

Description of my ritual ending and its musical reference:

Moon, Please Don't Go Away …. and the Moon dramatically turned red as it entered the “Umbra”, the darkest shadow of planet Earth. This celestial event forced the energies to shift. The Total Lunar Eclipse is followed by the emotional Reset and a closure of karmic cycles. The entire restoration process is completed by the soothing sounds of the ocean in 38.864508, 121.624216, becasue the lunar theater took place on the seashore in my mind.

Aiken is a Spanish artist born in the mid-80s, influenced by diverse sources such as Detroit techno, the Berlin sound, and music produced in the UK, among others. As a DJ, his sets cover a wide spectrum of sounds ranging from the purest forms of techno to deeper variations, as well as electro and IDM. As a producer, after releasing on several digital labels, he made his physical debut in 2011 with the EP “Mer” on Semantica Records. Since then, his releases on Non Series, KEY Vinyl, and Chronicle have been charted and supported by leading figures in the global techno scene. In 2015, he launched his own platform, Timeline, with the aim of expressing his creativity by combining different influences. All of these projects have contributed to his DJ sets being enjoyed in top clubs across countries such as England, Germany, the Netherlands, Russia, and Italy.

Opening the EP, is 'Heat-Seeker' which goes straight for the jugular with its machine-gun kicks, playful arpeggios and weaving 303 punctuation. Next up, title track 'Becoming Invisible' where gritty movie-like pads soar above a steady kick heartbeat. Centering the release, 'Constant Overload' brings its restless bass pulses and delicate melodic shards set against a super-solid infectious four-to-the-floor beat. 'Vector Six' is up next and brings more grit and rawness, claustrophobic and occasionally coming up for air. Bringing things to a finish, 'Soaring' tempts the imagination with its waltz-like kick and quietly wavering melodrama.

Obsessively looking to find ways to create a cerebral connection between human and sound. KÖNIG productions mainly focus on hard, dark, driving techno made and performed live on various hardware as well as DAWs and controllers. 
Expect relentless, dark, industrial machine noise combined with orchestral, otherwordly soundscapes. Man and machine exploring the organic, evolving creation of sound live and in the moment. Drawing upon an eclectic range of musical influences, productions, live performances and Dj sets aim to take the listener on a journey and create that connection. 
Hugely influenced by the Birmingham techno sound and the legendary club the Orbit. Artists like Surgeon, Regis, Luke Slater, Ben Sims and Dave Clarke have been a constant benchmark and source of inspiration. 
A love for music and its creation started from a young age. Growing up to the sound of opera, classical and the likes of Erasure, the Eurythmics and the Prodigy. A passion for electronic music was being nurtured. After honing his Dj skills on technics 1210s in the early noughties, mixing tracks just wasn’t enough anymore. 
A second hand Korg ES1 sampler was to start a never ending obsession with hardware music production and a life long lesson in electronics, circuit design and sound creation. Collecting electronic instruments. Always learning, integrating new machines, constantly experimenting with new set ups, audio and midi routings. Utilising analogue and digital machines, hardware and software and anything at his disposal in the eternal quest for sonic perfection. 
DJing and performing live since 2008, König has had the pleasure of gracing the same decks as some of his idols. With regular guest mixes for national and international radio stations and channels. 
Fnoob techno resident with Eleven Eleven the hardware techno show. Particular highlights include fulfilling a dream of playing for the legendary Leeds club night the Orbit at the wire a year before it closed its doors, and DJing alongside many incredible artists such as Ben Sims, Mark Broom, Mal Hombre, Mike Humphries, DKult, Nuno Clam, James Jaymal, KAR-L , No Deffy, Inlimen and Kasaya. 
Releases on 3Moon records and Portuguese label #thatechno  records and many more to come on his own forthcoming imprint Eleven Eleven Recordings.
