With the death of actual vinyl and the major upgrade to my equipment, I felt it no longer right to call myself "DaWax Assassin" and changed my moniker (after much thought) to Digital Deviance. I figure, I'm a deviant, my music is filthy, dirty nasty s**t and is in itself deviant, and everything is digital now (except for my Tech 12's and synths. Nothing beats the sounds of demons chewing on steel pipes...you just can't get that crunchiness with straight VSTs...but f**k if they're not getting close). I digitally create deviance, hence, Digital Deviance was born. 

Despite a far more authentic scratch sound with the upgraded sound card in the mixer, I mix so fast now I don't have time to scratch...100's of pieces of songs, loops, samples, drops cued and cut back and forth using both tables, a sampler and straight cues lets me turn 2 to 4 banging drops into one absolutely SMASHING drop. Plus I only have to play the song for 20 seconds! Go ADHD! I never stop moving (I'll post a video of an on the fly mashup or something some day)

I have since the last posts, realized that my endless mixing down of tracks to find what "fit" was in reality an completely idiotic way to do something I should've been doing for years - mixing melodically, mixing in key! (for musical retards like me who can't read actual music and used an F Sharp to stab someone once, Camelot's Wheel was invented! Thanks King Arthur!)

Now with the inception of Pulse Locker, Serato DJ and a new, very high sound quality and feature rich mixer(the SL1 should be banned worldwide and burned at the stake for audio heresy) - I now have access to every tune I could ever want to play, plus thousands of my own loops, cuts/samples, straight drum tracks for transitions or fattening up a beat without enough STOMP, a multitude of effects (they're Serato Effects and I'm really only fond of the repeater, LFO, HFO and Sweeper), plus we got Beatport selling stems for on the fly remixes/mashups -  now all at the tip of my finger.

I try and keep each tune to no more than 16 bars and everything is mixed 100% on the fly - no planning at all. Because of this, I do sometimes pull a track out after dropping it in, play just a breakdown and swap at the drop, and drop tracks in late because the 5 others I went through first were not what I wanted to hear. But I'm getting better at covering those little glitches in planning, and my mixes are increasing in speed and becoming less raw and more flawless like a planned set. 

I am now and forever will be a HEADBANGING BASS HEAD (not base head, because crack is whack...it lasts like 5 f**king minutes for f**k's sake)
