Take Control', the latest single from UK producer Alan Fitzpatrick features the creative genius of his 10 year old son, Mylo Fitzpatrick. 

Kettle drum kicks and a rolling low end are paced by claps and a spritely swung hat line. Melodics build the tension to the first break where a female voice tells us to ‘let the music take control’. Fully responsive, nuanced acid and far away trance pads act as a brief oasis of calm before the final drop explodes from the speakers.

Here is next promo mix for ON-SET London in December. It comes from ON-SET founder HARD BART, and as usual, you know what you get with his sets: proper banging techno!!! 

HARD BART is originally from Poland from where he moved over to UK (London) in 1998. That’s where his passion for turntables and techno music kicked in properly. So he got on the decks, and in almost no time at all he was rocking some serious London sound systems such as : Manik , Malfaiteurs , Fu.Q , Solid, to name just a few and he was also one of the few DJs who originally started the now legendary Every1Sound.

His name started to appear next to those big names in London’s underground Techno scene (without naming as everyone knows who they are) and he could be frequently seen in some of the best clubs too, including Mass, The Fridge, George IV, 414, Purple Turtle, Dukes (even once at Heaven in Leicester Square!)

Around 2007 he went to live in Spain for few years, and he was a regular DJ at Astral TECH parties, and in clubs and technivals in Granada, Sevilla, Malaga, and Almeria.

Recently he got involved in music production too and he has released a couple of tracks on labels Generator UK (digital) and Polymeric Records (12” vinyl), and he's got many more projects on the way, to be released in the near future both on vinyl and digital. So watch out because this talented DJ is technically very skilled, and it turns out to be quite a banging producer too!

Manchester’s Rudosa has been crafting his sound for the last decade. In that time, he has been a Sankeys Manchester resident DJ and has had a number of releases on the Stereo Productions, Deeperfect and Wow! Recordings labels. 2018 has been solid for the man, with the release of his 'Invasion' EP on Carl Cox’s Intec and another 4 track EP on Suara which drew support from techno luminaries Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Amelie Lens and Charlotte De Witte.

December brings a new record on Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave. ‘Activated’ is a three-track smasher with the high energy you expect from Rudosa. The title track immediately draws you in with its captivating vocal stabs. ‘Hypoxia’ has a similar vibe with more resonating vocals and rippling melodies. Whilst ‘It’s Time’ is a more celestial groove and can be pre ordered now on Beatport.

Slam get to grips with Envoy’s 1996 classic, ‘Dark Manoeuvres’ in this latest EP release. Soma have been bringing some of Envoy’s classic releases up to date with Slam following Ricardo Villalobos in reinterpreting the earlier work, all of which leads to May’s release on Soma of new material by Envoy. 

Dark Manoeuvres is a track which lives up to its name, the original expressing pumping, dark and crunchy sounds interspersed with string arrangements and overdubs which move the track in various different directions. The 1996 original is a great example of some production techniques of the time and is of interest in identifying the direction of the Techno sound in that era, as well as being eminently listenable. 

Slam were very much involved in the progression of Techno at the same time as Envoy was creating tracks such as Dark Manoeuvres and as such they have a real handle on how things have evolved, enabling them to bring a classic release such as this bang up to date. 

The distinctive hook, attention-grabbing melody and strings which are distinctive elements of the original are all incorporated in a full and fresh dynamic which sees some of these elements regrouped in individual sections such as the strings or moulded with deeper, darker resonance into a new expression. The hi-hat and kick drum interplay still drives the rhythm keeping that element as a prominent part of the track, setting a strong foundation that was integral to the original. Some of the more idiosyncratic elements of the original such as the aquatic overdubs, highlighting production, are reconstructed with use of modern technology to provide waves of highly imposing, building sound at crucial points in the track.

This is a great remix by Slam elevating the original track and elements within it to provide a new and totally engaging release which still expresses all the great qualities of the original. This will be a firm favourite with old and new fans of both Envoy and Slam.
