Following their ongoing relationship with Soma Records, Ukrainian duo Woo York are set to release their new record that proves to be somewhat representative of recent dramatic events in their country. Entitled I Am Against, both the main track and the EP itself are referring to the developments that lead to revolutionary struggle of the Ukrainian people. Fighting inequality, saying what you have to say and doing what you have to do seem to be the core ideas of the record. You might have figured that out yourself by spotting a rebel protester from January’s clash with riot police depicted on the record sleeve. The EP also features a special remix from UK Techno producer, Ø [Phase].

Music-wise the EP presents the same idea: the epic energy of the title track highlights the drive that was fuelling peaceful individuals to go out onto the streets and fight for their rights. An excellent remix from Ø [Phase] follows a similar path, although in its own original way that has made the UK-based artist’s name associated with the finest techno to date.  Closing the EP ‘In The End’ is a more abstract side of Woo York’s music works that reminds us once again: every single act of violence is bound to come to an end at some point.

Multi-instrumentalist and Ableton Live Certified Trainer Giona Vinti returns with his 2nd album for Dark Industry, work of a true music devotee, who also runs the Rexistenz label from Milan and has made himself quite a name in the industrial scene. The eight tracks of “Into The Zone” invite you on a trip with their cinematic, soundtrack-like structure, blurring the line between track, song (though entirely without vocals) and atmosphere. The beats are mainly very organic, like in the opener “The Cobra Gate”, the other main ingredients are minimal synth melodies, samples (“I Believe In Demons”), the wobble (“Frenzy”), warm basslines (“Old Skull”), rhythmic convolution (“Karma Burning”) or the sheer abyss of darkness (“Into The Zone”). “Back from the Icy World of Nothingness” finishes the album on a lighter, downbeat, vaguely dub-influenced note.
Reminiscent of some post rock albums, yet composed by means of electronic music, “Into The Zone” deserves your attention – and it will grow on you.

Violet Poison is the dark, enigmatic and esoteric side-project of Francesco Baudazzi, already known as Obtane, co-owner with Giorgio Gigli of the defunct techno label Zooloft. 
The new project is focused on analogue proto-techno with influences from 70’s Italian progressive bands like Goblin or OST composers like Fabio Frizzi and earlier Downwards records from 1994-1995. 

Check his debut full lenght on HAR, after the releases for Vatican Shadow’s labels (Hospital Productions and Bed of Nails), for his own label Violet Poison, for Repitch Recordings and a remix for Frozen Border. TIP!
