The Assignment: Fast forward an old track to make a new one.

I used VLC and BlackHole, it worked mostly fine. After a handful of tracks I took "On Spiritual Mission" https://krakenkraft.bandcamp.com/track/on-spiritual-mission and ffwded it. I cut out a loop and looped it warped in Live. For me it still sounded like the original. So I mixed parts of the original into. I liked that it now had some kind of fractal self-similarity. The title plays on the fact that you need some time to get into the groove of the loop and I think after the lenght of the track one could get into it.

Inspired by 《赞佛偈-天上天下无如佛》，I wrote this song of prayer to give praise and express my awe and gratitude towards Buddha, my true refuge.

"In the beginning a person who is to become a buddha develops the spirit of enlightenment; in the middle, this person accumulates the collections of merit and sublime wisdom; and in the end, this person actualizes perfect buddhahood. "Since beginningless time, I and all sentient beings, who have been my mothers, have been born into samsara and for a long while, up until now, have experienced the very many different sufferings of samsara, in general, and those of the three lower realms in particular. Even now, it is hard to understand the extent and depth of that suffering. 
But I have gained something that is difficult to achieve, and once achieved is most beneficial: the optimum human rebirth. It is difficult to meet with the precious teachings of the Buddha. Now that I have met with these teachings, if I do not achieve pure and complete Buddhahood, the best form of liberation from all the sufferings of samsara, I must again experience the whole range of sufferings that samsara in general involves and, more importantly, the sufferings of the three lower realms. The power to protect me from these sufferings resides in the guru and the Three Jewels. So for the sake of all sentient beings, my former mothers, I shall achieve complete Buddhahood. I therefore take refuge in the guru and the Three Jewels. "

Sickness is an inevitable part of cyclic existence. No one is spared from it. It breaks my heart to see so many people and sentient beings around me suffer day in day out due to illnesses. 

That anguish I felt drove me to seek refuge and liberation for myself and those inflicted with illnesses. And in the process of supplicating to the Medicine Buddha, I wrote a melody to the Medicine Buddha mantra. 

TADYATA OM BHEKHANDZYE BHEKHANDZYE MAHA BHEKHANDZYE RAJA SAMUDGATE SVAHA
HOMAGE TO THE MEDICINE BUDDHA!

I pray that whoever hears this mantra, will be free forever from sickness and attain enlightenment!

Below is an excerpt of Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s advice for the sick or anyone who wishes to do the Medicine Buddha practice. His discourse moved me deeply and I hope that it can help you develop unshakeable faith in the Medicine Buddha too. May peace with you. 

Advice from Lama Zopa Rinpoche:

The Medicine Buddha stated that even an animal that hears his mantra, will never be reborn in the lower realms. 

So with full trust in the Medicine Buddha, recite the mantra, knowing that Medicine Buddha will completely take care of your life and heal you. With full trust, know how Medicine Buddha is always with you, in your heart, on your crown, in front of you. There is not one second that Medicine Buddha does not see you or have compassion towards you. 

As you listen to the mantra and chant along and pray in your heart: 
“The purpose of my life is to free all beings from suffering and lead them to enlightenment, therefore, I am going to do the Medicine Buddha practice, especially to purify the negative karma, defilements, disease and spirit harm, as well as to do healing, so that I can have a healthy and long life to offer service and actualize the path.”

Dedication the merits from chanting the mantra as follows:
“Due to all the merits of the past, present and future that I have collected and that others have collected, however many sick sentient beings there are may they be instantly liberated from their sicknesses and may sentient beings never get sick.”

ABOUT:
“Till The Sun Comes Home” tells the story of a child who, frightened by a menacing storm, was comforted with the belief that the rain will pass and the sun will shine again.

The storm is a metaphor for the outbreak of Covid-19 which has majorly disrupted lives and livelihoods. The child’s range of emotions – fear of the heavy downpour, sadness and frustration at not being able to head outside to play, and sense of uncertainty as to when the rain will end – all echo the sentiments shared by people during this period of time. 

The song aims to bring comfort, to uplift spirits, and to inspire hope and courage. For at some point, the rain will end, and the sun will come home.
