"The influence and presence of trap and rap in dance/experimental is obviously massive, and the lines between genres are more blurred than ever. HAJJ, however, says this is a recent thing; “I find that the electronic scene in France is just starting to encourage the integration of this culture. Not so long ago people insulted me when I played rap/trap in my sets.”

The underpinning idea for this compilation brought electronic producers not explicitly of that world to unpick whatever boundaries remain and contribute tracks for a mixtape – while a few of the artists are more obviously ready to “play the game” and already make music which exists pretty close to this horizon, this has been a challenge to think creatively for a few of the other artists invited."

Exploited Body returns to Changeless with their earth-shattering two track EP. 'Collapsar' is a high-octane, howling, extraterrestrial banger caving in on itself, with its relentless drums and harrowing screeches clawing their way into the physical realm. 'Syrtis' is a deceptive slow-burner that halfway through the track reassembles itself in double-time through hyperactive breaks and disjointed rhythms.

’Collapsar / Syrtis’ will be released 11th November via Changeless.

Following up from work on Björk´s 'Fossora', Icelandic trio 'sideproject' debut on SVBKVLT with their new full-length album 'sourcepond'. Taking influence from the fog-covered wetlands of their native island, sideproject transfigure influences from the low-end frequencies of grime and bass music, and reshape it into a haze of transient-smeared beats accompanied by breathy synths that grow ever wetter till they slip beneath the surface tensions of their harmonic stratum. Compared to previous output, 'sourcepond' opts for a more concise approach to their music, stacking up their influences of experimental electronic, Icelandic punk and contemporary club music, and builds a sound that oscillates between melodic hooks and experimental rhythms. Each track carves through the sensuous material, pulling the listener into the dank sourcepond as though magnetic forces were guiding a bird's beak towards misty horizons.

Precious Metals Vol.1 is the inaugural compilation from Precious Metals, a label, radio show, and club night.

Since its debut as a radio show on London’s NTS in 2012, Precious Metals has been committed to showcasing  the outer reaches of experimental club music, both locally and globally. Under the direction of DJ and producer Endgame—emerging from South London’s pioneering club collectives Bala Club and Endless. The platform has been focused on capturing the organic cross-pollination of sounds from the inner-city and the sublime chaos of the present moment.

In 2020, Precious Metals evolved into a full-fledged label, seeking to unearth artists that are visionaries on their own terms, eschewing conventional genre limitations. Representing an international roster of uncompromising, iconoclastic artists both established and emerging. Bringing an emotionally charged vulnerability to club culture.

The compilation encapsulates this ethos, and ambition, the culmination of the past 12 years of endeavour. Featuring some of the legends and emerging stars of electronic music.

United in compassion and solidarity for the Palestinian cause and its ongoing humanitarian crisis, all proceeds from the album will be donated to support efforts toward humanitarian aid in Gaza, and Palestinian emancipation.

This two-track EP creatively reimagines the same core hook across two distinct genres. The first track is a hard-hitting, trap-infused anthem, layering thumping 808s with sharp hi-hats and aggressive rhythms, delivering a raw, bass-heavy vibe. The second track flips the script, taking a more experimental approach with intricate breaks, glitchy textures, and warped basslines, pushing the boundaries of sound design. Both versions showcase the versatility of the hook, bridging the worlds of hip hop and experimental bass music in an engaging, innovative way.

First single from nesso's highly anticipated EP 'Algorave Express' (G&P028), out February 2, 2025

Hop on for the unsettling ride conducted by Italian audio hacker and live coder Francesco Corvi, alias Nesso, who's also got rep as an experienced lecturer and frequent performer. Francesco navigates his sound expedition through stuttery, wreathed beats that mutate in ways that make every performance a one-off and every studio record of his a byte-sized smashing equilibrium. Whether he's dropped such on HEEL.ZONE, Superpang, or Kaer’Uiks, he's left a distinct sonic trail leading directly to this one right here. Fasten your seatbelts, 'cause early this February, Gin&Platonic will happily dispatch the 'Algorave Express,' Francesco's latest EP.

The five packed-up tracks follow an insuppressible grind on rusty staccato rails, with sheen-silver monster beat structures – a symphony of algorithmic twists that transform electronic sonixscapes into a well-calculated delusion. But this is science with some steeze: for all its layered complexity, Algorave Express is steeped in rhythm, inviting passengers on a journey through amplitude fluctuations of perpetual, lurid grooves.

This track was part of the fourth special issue of TYPP, the journal for artistic research of Sint Lucas School of Arts Antwerpen. This special issue was developed within the Advanced Master of Research in Art and Design (AdMa), in the framework of the 2022–23 ShareResearch module. This publication features contributions from all ten AdMa participants in the form of sound, text, images and drawings.

My addition to this publication was thus Reconsidering Ecstasy, a track that channels the big-stage energy of tomorrowland but tries to reclaim it to a softer energy. Why is it that we only know these grandiose feelings of togetherness from over-commercialised contexts?
