Matthias Meyer and Ryan Davis re-link for another superb outing on Watergate.

If you know, you know. Matthias Meyer and Ryan Davis make sweet music together, like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie once made babes. Tunes that melt you into the floor and roll dancefloors from Tulum to Tblisi. Their debut collaboration ‚Hope‘ was a dawning highlight of 2017 and Beatport Deep House no.1, while ‚Love Letters from Sicily‘, was a lustrous late summer anthem, reinforcing their knack for the sublime.

Their latest opus ‚Crying Juno / Cafuné‘ begins where its predecessors left off, taking life after Matthias and Ryan exchanged ideas back and forth over a period of months before finally settling in the former’s Holzmarkt studio in Berlin to finish giving the tracks their form. Together they’ve crafted a masterful yin and yang between joy and melancholy. ‚Crying Juno‘ is the buoyant leader, propelled by an insistent groove and ‘80s synths, both bittersweet and undeniably uplifting. ‚Cafuné‘ continues with the orchestral themes that gave us ‚Hope‘, as sweeping strings and keys swell over a bed of delicate percussion, gradually building into a delicious groove.

Tim Engelhardt - Tubular Mind

MNL's long running Seasons series is back with five brand new tracks to celebrate the summer of 2020.

On an EP full of debutants Dustin Nantais is the only recurring artist on the label and he sets the tone right from the get go with the piano driven 'Burning'.

From India we welcome Midnight Traffic, Gespona joins us from Spain and of course you can't release a quality progressive house EP nowadays with at least some input from Argentina, this time represented by Anhauser & Nicolas Leonelli and Ric Niels.

After fryhide took a break due to the COVID-19 situation and the absence of events, we feel its time to pick up the pace again. In 2020 we will see a series of Split EP's. 'Frozen' contrasts the haunting vocals of Francesca Lombardo against the deeply intuitive “less is more” approach of revered engineer Hannes Bieger. With 'Time' Montreal newcomers Day By Day return to fryhide after their successful contribution in the SC2019 release.

Having released the acclaimed Be Mine on Crosstown Rebels in 2017, Berlin-based Siopis lands on Rebellion with Unconditional, a poignant two-tracker that features the vocals of esteemed DnB lyricist, MC Coppa.

“An interview with Lauryn Hill inspired me to make this release. It blew me away and I felt it straight in my heart, so I wanted to share the deep message that comes from it. I put her vocals into the break of the lead track, and Unconditional was born.” Siopis.

Beginning with the ethereal sounds of Unconditional, the lead track is a journey into electronic music’s spiritual realm, as supple keys vibrate alongside a gently moving bassline. A sample from Lauryn Hill’s iconic speech acts as the breakdown, before the emotive bassline comes back in to pull deeply on our heartstrings. Kaleidoscope feat. MC Coppa completes the release. Bubbling with subtle hats and dreamy pads, the moving cut takes on a tougher edge with MC Coppa’s stirring monologue, whilst Siopis’ flagship club ready sound features right the way through to form a track that sounds perfect at home, and on the dancefloor.

A prolific producer, Siopis has been carving out a career in electronic music for more than a decade. Previously known under his Silversurfer moniker, he is responsible for some of Crosstown Rebels’ earliest releases, producing 2004’s Parisis and collaborating with Kiki on the seminal Shake Off that same year. Fast-forward to more recent times where continued releases on Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels and M.A.N.D.Y’s Get Physical Music have helped define his emotional, dance-oriented sound, whilst frequent performances at clubbing institutions such as Hoppetosse and Golden Gate have established him as a regular on the Berlin circuit. 
With international sets under his belt at the likes of Miami’s Ocean’s Ten and Mexico’s Americana Club Social, the future continues to shine bright for Siopis.

Live DAY BY DAY and enjoy the now. The Montreal based Djs, Jesse Zotti & Scott James, did just that before staring to write records together. Both having had an extensive DJ career, moving from clubs to the studio was a natural transition. Day by Day is presently flourishing and yet they still managed to make a big impact by launching with their first EP, Lights Out. Their Progressive influenced sound is described by many to be melodic and very seductive. The duo is already starting to turn heads in the global underground scene, which is effectively setting the stage to showcase their art.
