This episode saw me mixing up my usual blend of genres, tempos and eras, with disco, funk, house and sleazy boogie all making an appearance. Lighter on the promos this fortnight as I’ve not had a chance to download the latest goodies, but one forthcoming tune from me in the mix. 

In the second hour I was incredibly excited to welcome a member of one of my favourite bands of all time, Derrick McKenzie. As Jamiroquai’s drummer he’s laid down the backing of some of the funkiest tracks ever recorded, and if that wasn’t enough he’s also a brilliant DJ and producer. I’ve been lucky enough to meet him a couple of times too and he’s a thoroughly lovely guy, and I’m thrilled that I’ve managed to talk him into doing a guest mix for my show! It’s a funky affair, filled with beautiful soulful house and funky nu-disco vibes.

Funkier Radio Episode 96 - Derrick McKenzie [Jamiroquai] Guest Mix

'The Daydream Disco Mix Series' aims to bring you the best nudisco, soul, funk and house vibes to kick start your week. Each mix is made up of 10 of our favourites tracks at the moment. This week we bring you Clint H!

Hailing from East London, Clint H aka Clint Hards love for music and the DJ scene has been constant and unbroken since an early age. 

He fell in love with the DJ/nightlife scene when he first visited the famous white isle (Ibiza) As soon as he got back he decided to buy a pair of technics 1210's and spent the following years building up a collection of music and knowledge of various genres.

Clint has played in a number of venues in London in his surrounding areas and is currently a resident with the Alchemist bar chain. He is also currently playing at the world famous Sushi Samba, Heron Tower in Bishopgate where he has spent the last year as resident for one of the disco scenes most influential people Moodena, and his monthly Moodena Presents event.

He has been lucky to share the DJ booth with some of the scenes big hitters such as CJ Mackintosh, Dave Lee, Young Pulse, Birdee, Javi Frias and the late, great Mighty Mouse.

Clint's musical style is based on a blend of Disco, Nu Disco, Soul Funk Disco and Soulful House.

Clint also has his weekly Beats @ Brunch radio show on one of London's leading dance music stations Shine 879.

His guest mix delivers a mixture of fine vocals, full on funk and uplifting disco heat!

This is definitely one for all you disco heads out there!!

Daydream Disco Mix Series - 011 - Clint H

A new chapter begins for BLD as we let loose with a brand new show on  myhouseradio.fm. Yes, Killer Boogie is about to be launched on an unsuspecting public for the very first time! 

Killer Boogie continues our association with Rome based producer, DJ and label boss De Gama, who will be treating us to more of his masterful sets and introducing a very special guest each month. 

De Gama takes the controls for the first hour, weaving a sonic web that includes silky tunes from the likes of Opolopo, LTJ Edits, Birdee, Dr Packer feat Suki Soul, Hotmood and Musta. 

For the second hour, De Gama’s first guest for the new show is Italian producer and longtime Samosa and Daje Funk Records collaborator - M.B. Edit (aka Massimo Berardi). Expect a pulsating hour of music featuring tracks from PiCOSSU, Micky More & Andy Tee, Dave Lee, Da Lukas and Massimo Berardi himself.

What a special treat this show was! First up on hosting duties we had an original Disco Walton, Ken Avalon of Discoholics Anonymous @discoanon. Ken is a well respected DJ/producer and  radio host from Denmark. He has a huge following and his successful long running show, Hot to the Touch, on Prime Radio helped inspire the some fellow DWs to start their own shows. Ken has impeccable taste combining old & new and every mix is a journey & educational.

Our very special guest this week is Markus Lindner, a.k.a. Delfonic. We're all massive fans of Delfonic and we're super excited to have him join us on our show. Based in Berlin, Delfonic runs Illegal Jazz Records alongside Toy Tonics honcho, Kapote  as well as A&R/ Label Manager at wordandsound/whatpeopleplay.

With a history in digging and an unquestionable love for music, Delfonic, is as versatile and informed a DJ as they come. Delfonic applies his broad knowledge of music styles to almost any setting, and is renowned for blending multiple genres, eras and disciplines throughout his sets. His set for us is pure class, you'll love it!

Greg Middleton was in the hot seat this week, with another tasty selection, from laid back and funky right through to peak time club flavours.

And Greg was joined this week by special guest and NDC Radio legend, DJ Moll. In a career spanning over 20 years, Moll has held down residencies within bars and clubs across the North East of England. He has DJ’d in Portugal, Cyprus and Holland and has been signed to play in Ibiza this year. 

DJ Moll hosts the ‘House On Fire’ show every Saturday on NDC Radio covering all different genres of House music, mixing new tunes with some classics.

And DJ Moll's mix for us was was a superb mix of house, new and old. Enjoy!
