WHEN WE GET THERE: A Prelude To A Beautiful Day

I don’t remember exactly when or where but I can tell you the exact mindset I had whilst writing this verse. This is me every morning on my way to work on an early shift overthinking every single thing in my life. My dreams, my career path, my friendships, relationships and everything in between. I have a strong tendency to look back on my life and see how far I’ve come. Whether in the form of nostalgia or regret I normally can’t help but wonder how things could’ve been and ask myself where I’m going with this path I’ve chosen. I’ve learnt a lot over the last few years and one thing I’m still learning to do is let go. Letting go of things which no longer serve me. Letting go the idea of what could’ve been. But most of all letting go of the idea of perfection yet striving for it nonetheless. We spend our whole lives evolving, growing, learning and unlearning till our final days and leave this Earth as unfinished pieces of art. It took me a long time to realise that and come to terms with it. But I’m here to tell you that there’s nothing wrong with that. There’s beauty in an unfinished piece of art whether it’s a sculpture, a poem, a song or even a human being. We’re all made whole through the creator and the loved ones we keep around us and continue to sing, laugh and dance till the curtain call.

So I present to you this cover I wrote inspired by my favourite rapper and hope that it not only helps you listening, but it also helps me find a way out of my head. These are my raw thoughts. From me to you. Enjoy.

The first track off of ‘Sorry For The Late Replies’ is titled Rents Due. On this intro, Benicio is quick to answer questions about his whereabouts and assert his dominance in the rap game whilst also flexing his lyrical ability as well

The second track of the 3-pack is titled Fine Girl. This song mixes genuine emotion with a groove to keep listeners moving and dancing. In this record, Benicio is apologetic towards his girl not being available due to his studio commitments. It’s an emotional plea telling her to stay up late for him once done so they can get together and keep each other company for the rest of the night.

The third and final track of this 3-pack is titled All I Ever Wanted. In this song Benicio continues the themes discussed in Rents Due and doubles down on his lyrical ability and stance in the rap game.

BALI is a collaboration between Benicio, Phe B and Teigr which is a cross experimentation of Baile Funk and Hip-Hop. This marks the first collab between the 3 artists and is the first new release of the year for Benicio.
