Dirty Money was recorded during Shah’s unexpected return to an underworld he thought he had left behind but was forced to reenter after homeland security notified the Toronto born rapper that his presence in the US was now considered unlawful. This occurred just days after Shah was permanently banned from Tik Tok, where Shah’s music was exploding as anthems for videos ranging from ridiculing Donald Trump to exposing ties between police and nazis. Shah soon fled Atlanta, the city responsible for launching his career, which combined with the pandemic cancelling all concerts, forced Shah off the grid as a means of survival. The silver lining of this journey was Shah’s revelation that one never truly escapes their past, as hauntingly conveyed in the song’s hook, ‘Dirty money seen things. Remember where you came from.”

Dirty Money was recorded in the aircraft Shah used to escape Atlanta, in an inventive studio built by Shah’s long time engineer and producer Eddy Beethoven. Dirty Money was produced by award winning  producers My Buddy and Bobby King.

Shah’s record Majic pays respect to Atlanta’s strip club scene that launched his career, as well as to the universal laws that have attracted some of Shah’s most meaningful gifts. The song's bridge “I got the magic, I got the flame” is a literal acknowledgement of the infamous Atlanta strip clubs Magic City and Blue Flame, home to Shah’s DJ Swamp Izzo, but also figuratively addresses the invisible forces like the Law of Attraction that are propelling Shah.
