9 STRING TEST 270924

A more or less traditional reading by Scott, that was stretched, and stressed, and teased out in a very Scott style of audio editing is accompanied by samples of a young woman's voice all jumbled together. Slightly reminiscent of ( https://on.soundcloud.com/TzkwhvArTpqyvEWT7 ) , we have not figured out the source of the plentiful audio samples used for this underscoring. Our best guess is that it's from the same (now deleted) account on freesound.org used for the main material of Points of Violence

While at Butler University Scott's debut in vocal writing was a setting of one of his favorite poems, Cascando by Samuel Beckett. In 3 parts Scott deigned to create three movements, one of which was sung by a young singer who Scott happened to be dating at the time. We can't tell if the other two movements were unfinished at the time or as is more likely that the potential performances were put off or lost in the shuffle or required different musicians. We think that's what was at the heart of creating this alternative version of a setting of the poem.

This aforementioned vocal piece Cascando was attempted a new life once at the Hartt School, where the vocal division head wrote this note you see in the pic here to composition department head Robert Carle, who accidentally left it in the envelope giving the submission back to Scott. Scott then framed it. 

This piece is perhaps to be one of the first the In Memoriam Scott Comanzo project could get a full recording of as it only requires 2 musicians, and perhaps only the latter 2 movements, if we catch a head of steam...  So please head out to https://www.patreon.com/inmemoriamscottcomanzo and help us get there.
