After a first volume released in September 2020 on Hard Fist, Argentinian @balamok comes with “Chants of Pachamama (Part. 2)”, including a remix by Matias Aguayo.
This time Balam focuses on the experience around the ritual of magic plants that is practiced in the deep South-American rainforest. By mixing modular synth, stromping basslines, haunting vocals and real played percussions produced in his studio “Submarea” in Buenos Aires, he recreates a psychedelic trip from beginning to end

The White Isle`s Residentes Balearicos come bouncing back with a debut EP, Viajes Orgaizado, for Brighton`s Higher Love Recordings. The super prolific Italian duo of Luca Averna and Ale Doretto, who’ve now made Ibiza their home, have perviously released music, across a range of tempos - from serene sunset shuffles to nocturnal, psychedelic, shamanic shakedowns. Gracing labels such as Shades Of Sound, Music For Dreams, Balearic Ensemble, and Takeo Toyama`s Archipelago (RIP). Noteworthy names such as Joe Morris and Robin Lee`s Rudy’s Midnight Machine have remixed the results, while they frequently collaborate with current king of “chillout”, Melodica`s Chris Coco. This fresh four-track outing finds the friends fashioning two new tunes, each given an additional guest “twist”.

D110 starts with a solid rock drum battery, quickly joined by characteristically bionic “balearicos” bass. Ripe with rave-y synth signals, and filled with flickering frequencies, the track taps directly into their Italo disco roots. Its sleazy, suggestive, stomping novo new beat, countered by breakdowns of cute cascading bells and chimes - raining prettily above the punchy, pumping, pounding. Mancunian musician James Bright, himself a Higher Love veteran - as well as working with imprints such as Sveva, Quattro, and Eclectics - smooths out the still banging, gargantuan groove. Manufacturing melody from masked marimba and energetic, particulate, ping-ponging patterns, while making excellent use of echo to build, and release, tension.

Juno’s Dream is technologically tribal. Its robotic rhythm rising and falling hypnotically, while grounded by more “organic” finger clicks. The warm, womb-like, constantly mutating, bottom-end, an homage to both acid house and bleep. Bali-based Liverpudlian Joey Fiztgerald, aka Gold Suite adds trippy gated sequences, and bonus human hand percussion, in the shape of bongos and congas. Then tops this off with huge rushing waves, swirls, of stirring, emotive, synthetic strings.

Focusing on an exquisite combination of Disco-influenced Deep House gems and Italo-infused Indie Dance cuts, the London-based label Midnight People has been delivering top-notch material since its birth in 2020. With a mix of acclaimed and established artists plus rising and promising stars, the output of the British imprint is definitely something. And for its forthcoming instalment, Midnight opens its doors to Parallel, a skilled British producer who brought a proper pack of delicious originals to showcase his sonority. On the remix duties, bold and creative Birds injects some Post-Punk, New Wave attitude to deliver a powerful interpretation of “Seven Close Suns”, the title track.

“Thermal readings are very high due to the action of seven close suns. What a strange planet”. 

If you are a vintage anime aficionado as Parallel himself is, you have probably heard about “Ulysses 31”, a 1981 French-Japanese series that adapts the Greek mythology of Odysseus (known as "Ulysses" in Latin) to the 31st century. The EP dives into space and technology themes, incorporating sounds and dialogues from the series, arranged over driving Italo basslines and bouncing hi-hats.

We decided to review the most cosmic piece of the release: The so-called Moon Version of “Seven Close Suns”. Its trippy and atmospheric aura transports us to the universe of “Ulysses 31” and to the rich and ingenious realm of Parallel, who decided to deliver not one, but two interpretations of his own work – something definitely not so usual to see. Kudos!

Oslo label badabing diskos kicks off with a massive dance floor treat from legendary Norwegian producer diskJokke.

Known since 2008 for his international escapades with Prins Thomas's Full Pupp and the Smalltown Supersounds label, diskJokke has also played everywhere from Panoramabar Berlin to Space Ibiza and Liquid Room Tokyo. He has put out three superb long players, remixed indie acts such as Metronomy and The XX and now, after acquiring his Masters in Mathematics, he is back. He has a complex, weird and wonderful take on melodic and cinematic sounds, as proven by this terrific two-tracker.

Opener 'A Little TnT' wastes no time in locking you in on a wave of retro-future synth work while a squelchy bassline twists and turns below. It's an expansive and widescreen sound packed with the sort of melody that makes Scandi-disco so appealing.

The fantastic '90s' then takes you on a magical trip to the edge of the cosmos, with enchanting synth lines and buoyant drums all building to a crescendo. The mood then flips to acid-tinged disco house with warped lines and late-night menace, making for a truly adventurous track.

This is a terrific first EP from what is sure to be an essential new label.

One of the most important traits at Quixotical Records is uniqueness, music that stands out. No exception is the latest release "Pilots Lounge" by Nickelson who perfectly fulfills the vision of how it should sound. Two original tracks "Negative Energy" and "Pilots Lounge" with two remixes by the founder of Cowbell Radio - Ed Mahon and head of In Dark We Trust - Berny, make this release an absolute banger for the dark disco dance floor.

Bold and brave attempt, tries to be more than the primary source. Intimidation and projection of self-reliance are the main means of propulsion. Not as exquisite as the original, very mature in a sense of presenting what it is. This is one of those situations, where the so-called copy of an original work, is attempting to step over the bounds and propose, that it's a higher-caliber, more polished piece of art. Distancing is a unique quality of this remix, and it can be a perfect governor, but so as the roots. I believe, both of those things were well balanced and the result is as pleasing as it can be.

It’s xmas soon. 
Sorry but yes it is.
Just look around you, all the shops have already gearing up for the mad end of the year rush. 
And they were already working at it secretly during the summer. 

And so did we! 
Yes we have also a very special Xmas present for you all in the shape of Berlin duo Languages first EP proper. 
We had already teased you with the insomniac Sleep Stream last June, and now we can finally present the full release in all its glory. 

Languages describe themselves a Electronica / Psych-Pop duo. 
You can decide but we think it’s pretty accurate. 

French man Franz Matthews and English man Ed Bentley also refer to themselves as neo esoteric (expats) priests and I guess yes we could call them that with their ample robes and laid back slow grooves. 

Their first EP « 双胞胎 » (aka Siamese Twins) features the enchantingly lazy Sleep Stream, a proto pop song, wrapped up in harp sounds, funky bass line, airy guitar lines and echoing voices. 
‘Siamese Twins’, the other song featuring on the EP is a slow psychedelic tune, blending pop and new age vibes into a hazy blur of arpeggiated synthesisers, dub delays, and distant vocals.
Both pieces complete themselves beautifully and offer a dreamy trip to 4th chakra (which is the love one for those of you not into Yoga) 

Also on the package, the Days Of Being Wild remix of Sleep Stream, where we speed things up and add a zest of machine sleaze to make it suitable for the darker rooms of this world. 

We also had the pleasure of inviting the mighty Ewan Pearson to rework Siamese Twins.
The result is an absolute killer chugger of a tune. Built over an italo arpeggiated bass line, Languages whispered vocals float and collide with psychedelic sounds and ghostly pads, this is slow motion dancing at its best. 
So good we have put both the vocal and instrumental mix on the EP. Lucky you.

01 Siamese Twins

Ewan Pearson can do no wrong, can he? For the best part of twenty years now, the DJ, producer, writer, and academic's been recording, releasing, remixing, and playing the kind of sensate focused house that feels like the sweatiest, most loved-up high you've ever had from a best mate at sunrise, which is why he's a firm favourite here at THUMP UK. We even considered erecting a monument to him in the middle of the office by the HR team didn't seem happy about the prospect, so we stuck to sticking photos of him all over our desk. Which makes us look like either the massive fans we are, or deranged psychopaths planning an assassination.

Just for clarity, we're the former, and that's why we're so excited to be letting you listen to Pearson's typically sublime remix of "Sleep Stream" by Berlin duo Languages.

The EP that the track's taken from, which arrives on Days of Being Wild on the 2nd of December, is the pair's debut, and it's a very strong start. Pearson's floaty and fluttering, agile and fragile, sultry and sensual remix is one of the most pleasurable refixes we've heard all year and if you're not charmed by it's lilting cosmic disco charms then, well, there's no hope for you.

Exclusive V 'Confusion Totale'

Vidis Čepkauskas or simply V returns to Glasgow based label Nautilus Rising with his 'Confusion' EP. The three tracker marks another high quality release for the Lithuanian artist, who's sprinkled his musical magic on labels such as Correspondant, Cin Cin or his own imprint Le Temps Perdu. 'Confusion Totale', the EP's second track, features various elements from multiple electronic sub-genres and therefore but not only shows anthemic traits. The spacey-sounding chords open into subtle Acid bleeps carrying the listener feathery through a sound-pillow. 

V's EP 'Confusion' will be released on Nautilus Rising on October 10th, 2019.
