Maya's words has always had effect on my life since discovering her work as a young teenager and "Phenomenal Woman" has always been my favourite, reminding me of all the great women in my life...mainly my mother :)

His fourth album, musically, 'Listeners' draws from Scrimshire's passion for jazz, soul and electronic music of all styles; from an energetic combination of Afrobeat and garage on 'Won't Get Better', to the lushly orchestrated neo-soul of 'Thru You', and the harmonious jazz experimentations of 'I Never'. The album features a host of esteemed guest vocalists and musicians telling their own personal stories, including Georgia Anne Muldrow, Emma-Jean Thackray, Joshua Idehen, Madison McFerrin, Chip Wickham, and James Alexander Bright.

"With this album I wanted to get a more focused sound after six years of relearning and development in the studio. But I also struggled to find my own words, to speak about where I/we are now. So I allowed my collaborators total freedom to tell their own story and as they came back to me, they were telling the same stories I wanted to. It's resulted in some deeply personal confessional pieces: mourning family, collapsing relationships, extremes of self doubt and analysis, trying to balance public and inner persona, and a reminder that life in all forms is important.

It’s called 'Listeners' as I am a listener here, I feel like I've been given these very personal experiences to care for. Listeners because, the travesty of the last few years is that we stopped listening to each other, everyone is shouting at each other and no one is learning. And Listeners because I hope I've made something that is for other people more than I have before. I've tried to craft something warmer and more enjoyable, made for those who give me their time in listening to my music."

Since joining the Wah Wah 45s label in 2007, Scrimshire has released three albums of experimental cinematic jazz, and electronic sounds. Following his 2009 debut ‘Along Came The Devil One Night​’, his second album ‘The Hollow’ (2011) was a BBC 6 Music Album of the Week, with Gilles Peterson calling it “A late contender for album of the year”.

In the time since the release of his last album ‘Bight’ (“An eclectic range of influences ranging from disco to fusion to more contemporary electronic styles” XLR8R) in 2013, Adam has worked with long-time musical accomplice Dave Koor on new project Modified Man, and launched Albert’s Favourites releasing projects by The Expansions, Hector Plimmer and Jonny Drop. He has continued to gain radio and DJ support for his successful “Scrimshire Edits” series and has produced and mixed records for artist including Stac, Daudi Matsiko, Bastien Keb, Rōnin Arkestra, Jonny Drop. He has also continued to develop the Wah Wah 45s label, where he is now a co-owner and director.

Berlin is not a place where things happen according to the normal rules. And
Berlin’s Torpedo Boyz — winners of the 2009 Independent Music Award for
best dance/electronica album for Cum On Feel the Boyz — are proof of that.
Just like the city’s legendary nightlife — where fresh ideas instantly become
clubland reality and the scene maintains its edge with shape-shifting spontaneity
— the Torpedo Boyz came into existence as a spark of an idea and, as their new
album, Return of the Ausländers, shows, they continue to constantly evolve.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. It all began back in 2004. That’s when
Kentastic — a pop DJ who also fronted an indie band — and former house DJ
Rollin Hand began screwing around with some beats during a recording session
and came up with the rowdy, rambunctious “Gimme a Bassline!” Initially
released as a one-off 12-inch, the track immediately struck a chord, quickly
climbing into the Top Five of the German club charts. Soon after, New York’s
Ursula 1000 included the track on his Ursadelica compilation, released by
Thievery Corporation’s ESL label, and Puma snapped up the tune for a major TV
campaign.
Suddenly everyone wanted a piece of the Torpedo Boyz: Washington DC’s Fort
Knox Five volunteered to remix the next single. Then as the ideas and tracks
continued to flow, artists from Smoove, Skeewiff, and the Pinker Tones to
Cubismo Grafico and Groove Allegiance lined up to re-rub a series of hit 12-inch
releases, including “Are You Talking To Me???”, “Japaneeze Boyz”, and
“The Disco Song”. Still, as debut album Headache Music and the awardwinning
Cum On Feel the Boyz (both released on Lounge Records in Europe
and Sounds From the Roof in the US) followed and demand for live appearances
exploded, Kentastic and Rollin Hand decided they wouldn’t be happy performing
as faceless knob-twiddlers. Instead, with vocalists Returner and Daisuke as well
as with Kurtis Bo and Borat on bass and drums they gathered their merry gang of
collaborators and formed a fully-fledged touring band. Why? There’s one
constant with the Torpedo Boyz: Expect the unexpected.

Biography
1965: Daz enters this universe! 

1970: Daz is given his first vinyl record “I Want You Back” by the Jackson 5. This is the start of his addiction to vinyl and to this day he continues to suffer from pure vinyl junk/ism… no cure found yet! 

1979: At the age of 14, he forms the Funbunch Sound System with an old school friend, Dennis Grey. The first gig they book is at an all-girls school- a great gig!! 

1980 - 1988: Promotes a number of successful parties hosted by the likes of Trevor Nelson, Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson and Norman Jay! 1989: The Funbunch Sound System lands itself a gig at the legendary Notting Hill Carnival and is still rockin’ the spot to this current day- bigger and better than ever! 

1991 - 1992: Enrolls at the London School of Engineering to learn more about the technical side of the creating music. There is where he develops his love of music production! With the help of his friends, Daz formally begins his production career by financially investing in the purchase of industry-level music production equipment. He soon releases his first vinyl bootleg mega mix entitled, “Daz Mix Parts 1 & 2” (It was a big hit in Brooklyn apparently!) and then follows it up with his official debut 12” single entitled, “Daz Jazz”- with great support from radio, music magazines & DJ’s worldwide. 

1993 - 1995: Meets the infamous Noodles of the Groove Chronicles and becomes his sound engineer alongside his production partner,Wonder. Daz goes on to engineer a jungle/drum & bass remix project in the Soul II Soul studios. Daz is contracted as an in-house sound engineer for the indie dance label, Slip ‘n Slide Records via his connections to Noodles & Wonder. In his work with Slip ‘n Slide, Daz meets Orin Walters aka Afronaut & the mighty Phil Asher. Releases a 12” single with BB Boogie entitled, “Fire” on Slip ‘n Slide’s sub-label, Basement 282. Daz’s also engineer’s for Orin’s Mousetrap & Monkey Funk labels, not long after he meets IG Culture. 

1996 - 1998: Works as an in-house engineer for ToTo Productions in Brixton where he meets & works with Danny J. Lewis and Don Ricardo. (Note: Both artists are later featured on Afronaut LP project & Bugz in the Attic LP.) & a very young Matt Lord (Note: Daz later gets Matt to become a member of Bugz in the Attic). Alongside Don Ricardo and two other collaborators, Daz forms the U.S.S.O. (Urban Street Soul Orchestra) and releases two 12”singles. Becomes one of the founding members of the DNB outfit with the Invaderz with Matt Lord & Daryl James. Daz links up with good friends Bunny Bread & Steve Austin to form the old skool DJ crew, Soul Masters. Soon after Daz is a member in creating Uprock, a respected group of like-minded musicians, artists, DJs & performers with a network of fans all over the UK & Europe. Uprock is still hosting phenomenal house parties, soca & zouk jams in West London and holding down a residency called ‘Jazz Refreshed’. 

1998 - 2005: Works with the crew Da Funkstarz, alongside Danny J. Lewis and creates a number of notable remix releases. Hooks up with Alex Arnaut of the Dread Poets to form the ‘Da Lunarticz and releases a few 12”s under that alias. Joins the Bugz in the Attic crew and never looks back… well, only a couple for times to peek over his shoulder. He works non-stop, full on 24-7/365 in a production mode remixing & engineering several projects. The Bugz, as a collective settle into their new residency at the Co-Op club in London with Orin aka Afronaut & Daz I Kue on a fortnightly basis also featuring Seiji, Alex Phountzi, Mark Force & Kaidi Tatham. 

2005 – 2006: Daz plays an integral role in the production of the Co-Op Miami/WMC parties- 2006, 2007 & 2008. Bugz in the Attic release the magnificent, “Got the Bug” remix LP on Virgin’s V2 label to a massive critical acclaim- everyone loves the Bugz! The Co-Op party wins the Best Club Event award at the first-ever Gilles Peterson Worldwide Awards & Bugz in the Attic earns the Best Single award for “Booty La La”…. Whew! What a year! 

2006 - 2007: Co-production of the debut Bugz in the Attic LP- “Back in the Doghouse,” forms the Bugz in the Attic Live band & tours extensively world-wide: USA, Japan, Australia and Europe. 2007 - 2008: The Co-Op party wins Best Club Event at the Gilles Peterson’s BBC Worldwide Awards- again!!! Daz moves from the UK and settles in Atlanta, GA. 

2009: Completion of a five-year labor of love, the Joy Jones “Nappy Child” LP project- forthcoming on Future Soul Records. Be sure to check it out!

The Future: A whole heap of productions & remixes; Daz I Kue & Andrea Clarke LP, Stan Smith Project, Daz-I-Kue ‘Dazisms’, hip-hop LP project working alongside the Atlanta-based D 'N S- featured on Get Up Movement / Future Soul Records… and it doesn’t stop there!! Daz is moving and shakin’ in his creation and promotion of local and global events like “The G++dness” tours and “The Godfather” sets- the official James Brown-themed jams.
