Born in Leeds in 1986, Darren “Daz” Jones was destined to be DJ By Name, given his initials. 

DJ By Name's journey began at the age of 14 when he started experimenting with vinyl records in his bedroom. By his late teenage years, he had already secured his first gig at a popular Harrogate nightclub called XS. 

However, DJ By Name's story truly took shape when he transitioned from being behind the decks to dancing in front of them. It was on the dance floors of renowned festivals and events like Creamfields, Global Gathering, Glastonbury and Retro at Tall Trees that he honed his passion for music. 

These experiences have left an indelible mark on his sets, which now encompass a diverse range of styles, including everything and anything Piano, Soulful, Jackin, Vocal, Funky, House, and NuDisco. In Yorkshire, DJ By Name is a regular fixture at events, especially one he co-founded, known as FML – (Funk My Life). Beyond Yorkshire, he has also made played out globally, thanks to his role as a brand manager for the iconic Love to be... and funkyLove, which has landed him on lineups around the world. He has recently shared the stage with esteemed artists such as KKlass, The Cube Guys, Earth n Days, Jon Pleased Wimmin, Trimtone, Victor Simonelli, Tom Wainwright, Bez from the Happy Mondays,  Marshall Jefferson and Julie McKnight to name just a few. 

Furthermore, he has been a consistent presence in the vibrant music scene of Ibiza over the past few years recently playing the iconic Cafe Del Mar. 

Every other Tuesday, you can tune in to "DJ By Name Presents HouseStory" on LDC Radio Leeds 97.8FM, where he delivers captivating sets.  

Additionally, DJ By Name hosts a weekly and monthly radio show titled "Release Your Inner Funk," broadcasted globally on Ibiza Club News, Ibiza Stardust Radio, MoveIbiza, DanceFreex and DanceTrax Radio, it is also available on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, Deezer, Google Podcasts, TunedIn and many other platforms.
