Real name – Jamie Boxall, the now Cornwall, UK-based artist grew up between Germany and UK and was spoon-fed a diet of hard house and techno from his parents whilst studying music theory.

After learning to play piano and violin. Early adult years saw BOXA began to DJ at local nightclubs, realising a clear raw passion for Techno music and all sub-genres between. 

Only last year did he begin studying music production and creating his sound on an MPC and AKAI MPK at home. Heavily inspired by special artists like Maya Jane Coles, Nina Kraviz and Daria Kolosova - a big focus went into crafting heavy drums, melody hooks and quirky sampling of childhood computer games, the end sound floating between dark-tinged peak-time Minimal and driving Techno.

BOXA’s first releases are out on our sister label @HOT-GROOVERS next month via the two singles ‘BANDICOOT’ and ‘SALTY’.

Today, BOXA steps up to the @PUZZLEDParties throne with an exclusive guest mix showcasing his fresh, energetic, hypnotic, broken-beat Techno sound.

"Born in Leeds in 1986, Darren “Daz” Jones was destined to be DJ By Name, given his initials. DJ By
Name's journey began at the age of 14 when he started
experimenting with vinyl records in his bedroom. By his late teenage years, he had already secured his first gig at a popular Harrogate nightclub called XS.

However, DJ By Name's story truly took shape when he transitioned from being behind the decks to dancing in front of them. It was on the dance floors of renowned
festivals and events like Creamfields, Global Gathering, Glastonbury, and Retro at Tall Trees that he honed his passion for dance music.
These experiences have left an indelible mark on his sets, which now encompass a diverse range of styles, including House, Funky House, and NuDisco.

In Yorkshire, DJ By Name is a regular fixture at events, especially one he co-founded, known as FML –(Funk My Life). Beyond Yorkshire, he has also made waves globally, thanks to his role as a brand manager for the iconic Love to be... and funkyLove, which has landed him on lineups around the world. He's recently shared the stage with esteemed artists such as KKlass, The Cube Guys, Earth n Days, Jon Pleased Wimmin, Trimtone, and Victor Simonelli, to name just a few. Furthermore,
he's been a consistent presence in the vibrant music scene of Ibiza over the past few years.

Every Tuesday, you can tune in to "DJ By Name Presents HouseStory" on LDC Radio Leeds 97.8FM, where he delivers captivating sets. Additionally, DJ By Name hosts a weekly and monthly radio show titled "Release Your Inner Funk," broadcasted globally on Ibiza Club News Radio, Data Transmission Radio, Ibiza Stardust Radio, MoveIbiza and Dance Freex Radio.
