The Russia based Inga Mauer will proudly line up at our Dekmantel Festival this summer. And it is easy to see why: she has a high impact, strobe lit dark techno sound that is impossible to escape. This is true of her DJ-sets as well as her productions, which have been released on labels like Hivern Discs and shtum. Imbued with elements of EBM, hellish synth craft and psychedelic tendencies, she brings a fresh and widescreen persecutive to electronic music that really stands her out. 

Her mix is here just as alarming for all the right reasons: it quickly shifts from foreboding noise tracks to eerie drones, from cold wave styles to thudding house via nasty old school techno. Powerful and visceral throughout, it’s a muscular mix that takes many risks and veers off into a weird and wonderful world of sound that is never less than brilliantly unpredictable.

Rhyw, (also one half of the duo Cassegrain) has made a career from a series of records that represent the very best of modern techno. 
He currently operates two labels - Arcing Seas with Magna Pia, his partner in Cassegrain and Fever AM with Mor Elian and has released EPs on Shifted’s Avian imprint, Tar Hallow as well as appearances on Tbilisi’s Bassiani and Efdemin’s Naïf.
As one of Techno’s more prolific producers, he has used the Rhyw alias to explore more abstract interpretations of both the Techno genre, and the wider dance music spectrum. 
More recently, Tsiridis looked to his musical roots, growing up in the UK for inspiration, with high tensile, deconstructed club music in the form of “Biggest Bully/ Felt” released on Fever AM, and “Lurk Late” on Modeselektor’s Seilscheibenpfeiler (SSPB) label. 
Never ceasing to explore new sounds, Rhyw continues to mine his unique production aesthetic.

TEN YEARS IN TWO HOURS

In essence, I’m considering this mix as an end to the beginning of my work as a recording artist.  This marks the closure of my first decade of producing music, and my 25th year as a DJ.  I wanted to make a solid mark in the here and the now to give myself the space to shed some skin and look completely and entirely forward. The album is its own personal benchmark, and this mix – which includes my entire discography thus far – places the last ten years of production projects under one solid roof where they can live together forever.  It was important to me to include the collaborations, remixes, and remixes of my songs by other producers that have been such an integral part of my work to this point.  Gratitude and respect to all parties involved in each of those sonic escapades.  

Below is an alphabetical listing of the songs included in the mix - some in their entirety, and others stripped to their bones and rearranged for a fresh look.  As my friend Ken told me at the beginning of the project, this was the only way to guarantee that the end result would be a mix that only I could make.  

So far, so good, so what?  Enjoy irresponsibly.

"DBIAPB, the abbreviation for Dead Baby in a Plastic Bag, is a name that leaves you not indifferent but uneasy. This impression of disquiet is what the DJ duo based in Leipzig, Germany aim to create. The pair has been active for the last decade after acknowledging their similar views on art and music throughout their years of friendship. While one escaped from his hometown, Altenburg, to settle in Leipzig, the other willingly remained. Coincidently this rupture marked the starting point of their co-productions. Working at a distance they manage to build sets individually by considering each other’s views and aesthetics. They then join forces and merge their work over a period of one or two days to compile amazing journeys.
Whether they will ever produce music together is a question that has been asked but not yet answered."

"Dead Baby In A Plastic Bag is a visceral Live Mix/Edit exercise conducted with frightening precision by the unlicensed team consisting of Pripad and Unclean. 
The processes of DBIAPB take various deviant musics from Industrial, Power Electronics, Rhythmic Noise, and of course Techno, and finely cut them together into a seamless and mesmerising sonic landscape. 
The experience is always enlightening, disturbing and powerful, but ultimately infectious on the dance floor. 
The focus of DBIAPB is political, adversarial, and confrontational, juxtaposing textures and emotions, exploring new sonic and psychoacoustic possibilities, challenging the listener and covering all in a cloak of darkness. 
Dead Baby In A Plastic Bag is the perfect antidote to the mass produced, instant gratification of the new millenium. Beware. Be Aware."
