Sirena is a DJ, promoter, radio show host and dance-floor enthusiast based out of Vancouver, Canada.

Hailing from rural Alberta, Canada, she was introduced to music at an early age with Classical piano instruction. During this time, she developed a fondness for daydreaming; easy for a child to do amongst the backdrop of vast open fields, and seemingly endless skies in the prairies. Finding the nature of Classical training too strict, she joined the percussion section of her school band for the remainder of her studies. 

Sirena's first taste of underground music culture came from the raw energy generated by the DIY punk scene in Edmonton, where she was exposed to acts involving analog electronics with live instruments, further developing her passion for hidden venues and discovering unique, evolving sounds. After relocating to Vancouver to pursue film, Sirena naturally found the like-minded who were participating in the local underground rave scene. After sharing consciousness-expanding experiences on the dance-floor, and now close friends exposing her to their knowledge of DJing, Sirena was compelled to learn to mix herself. 

Her alias Sirena was officially born in 2014, and since then has played a countless number of venues in her city, working closely alongside other artists working hard to promote the beauty of Underground music culture. These years of experience have led her to sharing the stage with artists such as Traumer, Mihai Popoviciu, Bill Patrick, Jay Tripwire, Mayan Nidam, Benny, Claire, and a wide array of talented DJs and producers from different parts of the world that have made their home in Vancouver.

After these years of sonic exploration, her sound can be described mostly as Minimal, yet she can be found playfully mixing within the realms of Deep House, Tech, Microhouse, Progressive, and Psychedelic Techno. With these sounds, her aim is to create a time and space wherein everyone can dive freely into the depths of spirit, dancing as she would if on the other side of the booth.

The seeds of our collective were cast into Nocturnal Pest many years ago. The members of
two friend groups found each other, almost as if predestined, treading the dance floor of
steamy clubs, dancing to hypnotically pulsating beats of machine-music, or philosophizing in
house parties til dawn. Eventually, on the surreal, purple-glowing deck of a Berlin club boat,
was born the idea: it is time to organize! We threw our first firewood on the ever-burning
flame of Nocturnal Pest in January of 2022 and since then we have visited - either as DJs or
as organisers - the prominent underground venues of Budapest.

A platform for artists to be free with their music and to take an unscripted journey through their artistry. Aiming to take the listener to their place of happiness.

Next up on the series is close friend to the crew, Aysha. A serial wax slinger and deep diver digger, Aysha has built a vast collection of sounds creating her unique bumpy, groovy rolling whilst still energetic sound.
After an impressive set at EXHB 1 it was only right to relieve her craftsmanship with an hr mix of her fav rollers!

Aysha's mix for Selective Hearing is just over an hour of pure minimal and deep tech goodness. Showcasing some of her favourite artists throughout the mix, she plays records from @subann @simas @redmeattherapy @isis salam @mod32 @saenez and more. Aysha flows through warm, atmospheric groovers, layering unexpected punchy and quirky minimal sounds over the top. The mix is a rollercoaster, building steadily with bassy bumpy vibes and will definitely have you grooving till the end. Wrap your ears around this one - it's a belter.

Katalist is a native of Detroit and in an ode to the city's rich cultural heritage, has found a way to creatively and seamlessly weave in many different styles of music into his sets, including funk, hip hop, disco house, techno, ghetto tech and electro.  He is one of the driving forces behind the successful label and event organizers, Bangtech 12, known universally for the epic (and free) pre-Movement kick off event they hold at Bookies in Detroit.  Katlist has been on the decks for over 25+ years honing his craft, cutting his teeth as a DJ for Burton Snowboards early on and as a recording engineer at Disc.  He has held residencies across Detroit and continues to partner with Bookies and Goodnight Gracies for regular events.  When he isn't playing live, you can catch him on Twitch every Sunday from 12-2 for Sunday Brunch.  Katalist's eclectic and soulful ethos shines through in this mix and we are happy to welcome him to the label with our latest Beretta FM Mix that you won't want to miss.
