This recording is from the MIDI recorded sequencing (using my Pro Tools DAW), as well as the various multiple parts that I play live at the same time on my Yamaha Montage8 Synthesizer using all 16 PARTs of a single Performance, and utilizing both the AWM2 & FM-X engines, as well as numerous onboard effects.  I programmed all the sounds (all 16 PARTs) from scratch, and all the sampled sounds that I used are Preset waveforms, except for the touch tone phone dial sound (which I could have programmed using an FM-X PART, but already had that sample & wanted to save time.  But using the sample just demonstrates how easy it is to import a .wav file into the User memory & use in an AWM2/Drum PART).  For the parts that I play live, I only programmed and use 2 Scenes that I switch between in the Performance.  I think this demonstrates just how powerful, versatile and what a Monster synth the Yamaha Montage is, because everything you hear is from one single synthesizer, recorded in real time!  The only thing missing are the Vocals, which I could have also done live & recorded at the same time by plugging a microphone into the A/D Input of the Synth.

Montage - Justin Bieber - Intentions

I took the Preset Performance called "FM Saw Pad" on my Yamaha Montage synthesizer, muted the second PART and removed all effects from the first PART, then recorded it, which is the 1st sound you hear.  Then I added some effects to create a Shimmer effect and recorded it ... it's the 2nd sound you hear.  Next I changed one of the effects from 'Space Simulator' to 'Pitch Change' and then recorded the 3rd sound you hear.  The forth sound is the same as the 3rd except I increased the feedback a bit on the 'Pitch Change' effect.

Montage Shimmer

This is a custom B3 Organ sound that I programmed on my Yamaha Montage synthesizer specifically for the song 'A Whiter Shade of Pale' by Procol Harum.

The first half is the organ sounds with all the instruments, drums, bass & piano.  The second half is just the organ alone.

On the Montage Scene 1 is for the intro (& after chorus) and has a slow Percussion (the lower harmonic).  Scene 2 is for the verses & chorus of the song (the same as Scene 1 with slightly lowered volume).  And Scene 3 is for the change up into the semi-chorus and has a slow Percussion (the higher harmonic).  I have uploaded & shared this Montage Performance on the Soundmondo.com site with the name "B3 Organ WhiterShade".

This is a recording of 3 Yamaha Montage Performances that are DX7 (FM-X) based, whereby they are not the typical thinner bells and textures that some associate with DX7 (FM-X) synth sounds.

These are to demonstrate that DX7 (FM-X) synth sounds can be programmed to have massive thick analog sounding tones, as well as voice-like strings.
