Ice Ice Outpost (Arrangement)

At the time of writing, I had just recently put my rack back together after a super long time of it being taken apart. I just wanted to write a more simple tune that doesn't need to worry about so much mixing work being done, as I was also on a (very tight) time limit with the deadline and life getting in the way - so I opted for my Alesis and SC-55 modules, as I figured these two would blend together well - I ended up being far more correct about that than I had anticipated.

I used a lot of pitch and harmonic shift tricks on the 55 in particular - the two assignable CC's (16 and 17) were assigned to ±24 semitones (+24 on one, -24 on the other), this got me some really pretty lo-fi sounds and some punchy drums. The Alesis module provides a lot of the sounds that aren't typical for the SC-55, to provide some timbral variety.

I was super inspired by Mitsuda's Chrono Trigger score while writing this, way more than I'd normally be.

I did some music for MaGMML3. Not a lot, didn't really have the time, but I've still done a few bits, I'll upload them over the next few days.

Anyway, yeah, Chaos Assault. It needed music and it was the shmup stage. Now ask the guy who's into shmup music to make shmup music for you. Yeah, like, I'm not gonna lie but I think this turned out great! I was particularly inspired by Tsukumo Hyakutaro's works (particularly Hyper Duel and Thunder Force 5) for this, as 48H used a cover of Legendary Wings for its shmup stage.

I remember Cathode had a small idea for this... the only things remaining from their idea is the key signature and tempo... sorry Cathode...
