Marley's music had an immense impact on me as a youth and still resonates today Like many, he was my first introduction to reggae and since my first listen back in the 70s and 80s to now, his music does and will continue to stand the test of time and impact generations of fans and musicians alike for  the high quality of song writing and his message of harmony and peace..

Ravanelli Disco Club is a disco house label based in Marseille that was established 2019.  Over its three short years they have worked with key artists including Ron Basejam, Jimpster, JKriv, Cody Currie, Retromigration, Joe Corti, and Scruscru, with releases in the wings by Prins Thomas and Pete Herbert.

 

Next up on Ravanelli Disco Club comes slick French duo Palavas who hail from the sun-drenched coast of the South of France, somewhere between Montpellier and Marseille. Named after the Palavas resort - that was once the splendid queen of Mediterranean sandy beaches -  the AZZUR Records founders are the epitome of the French dolce vita! With previous releases on Toucan Sound and Future Disco, their music is an intoxicating blend of nostalgia and cosmic futurism that dazzles discerning dancefloors every weekend with their shimmering solar odyssey.

 

On ‘Déesse D'Été’ – which poetically translates to Summer Goddess - Palavas pay homage to the vibrant and infectious sound of the 80s, blending disco, funk, and new wave with a contemporary twist. Skinny Love by Bon Iver, and the whole For Emma Forever Ago album come to think of it, is absolutely spectacular.

Some people don't take well to it being remixed, but this particular track was one of the the most therapeutic remixes/bootlegs I've had the pleasure of making.

I decided to sit down and make some music that would reflect a bit more of a calm side to me. I was listening to the original track, threw it in my DAW and threw down some crushy destroyed drums under it to get a feel for where to start, and then it just flowed from that point on.

It's not exactly what you'd expect, which has really become what I like doing - surprises.

This was another marathon production binge, which seems to be how I work best.

Often it’s just one song that comes to define an artist, becoming their marquee track. For Fort Knox Five that track is “The Brazilian Hipster.” Released on Fort Knox Recordings in April of 2004 the tune became an instant sensation and party hit, appearing on the famed Hotel Costes collection and the soundtrack to the Academy Award-winning documentary “The Cove.” The original 12-inch single, which featured the Dr. Rubberfunk Remix on the B-side, quickly sold out and has been out-of-print ever since.
