A piece for solo piano that allows the performer to exemplify their talent at: Legato, Articulation transitions, flexibility, Reading accidentals, rhythms, score reading, voicing, key changes, and dexterity. 
This piece is quite flashy, and I look forward to hearing it performed some day. Hopefully sooner than later! 

Etude Caprice

First Movement of my Sonata for Chris.
For viola and piano.

"I like things that sound dark."

A sonata written through inspiration from Martha Graham. 
Instrumentation: 1 flute, 1 Bb clarinet, standard string quartet, 2 pianos. It's been a while since I've felt like I'm running around a playground while composing- it's nice to have that feeling back. I remember why I've loved it.

These lyrics are based on a dream I had - one that came in two parts. Here's the second dream, which ended up describing the beginning of a story.

The sound of wings fluttering in chilled air. For violin ensemble and electronics (5 violins in this recording). 

Wings (Live)

A violin concerto in three movements. In this version orchestrated for violin and electronics. The work meditates on sounds of water and rivers, focusing on the San Antonio river named Yanaguana, which roughly translates to "refreshing waters".

Bring new breath
From fresh waters to new city.

Rush by the steady banks
As sun and moon
Smile evenly 
Riding clouds as ferry
Across your rippling skirt.

Wisps of your hair
Mist the air
As new eyes find you - 
First native,
Then distant,

All who find you claim you

Evenly
As they rush past now their banks
Having brought 
New breath
With refreshing waters
To older city.
