This is ‘A Time for Healing’, the title track and first single from the forthcoming release by Chicago’s legendary spiritual jazz shaman Kahil El’Zabar’, leading an enviable ensemble of upcoming masters from his hometown. 

“‘A Time For Healing’ channels the atavistic spirit of that whole lineage by making rhythmic footprints in the African sands. The evocative spiritual trinket percussion of Stanley Cowell and presence of Pharoah Sanders can be felt keenly on this humble but urgently expressed offering of jug poured and tines thumbed kalimba, swift-of-wing spiraled and rasped saxophone, and yearned, soothed trumpet righteousness” writes Dominic Valvona in the album’s liner notes. 

This is enchanting, hypnotic spiritual jazz sounds with a powerful message from yet another epic double LP’s worth of ancient/future music for the mind, body and soul by Kahil El’Zabar. ‘A Time for Healing’ answers the urgent questions posed by his sold-out ‘America The Beautiful’ album, addressing the state of affairs today whilst calling for a better tomorrow. 

The quartet’s line-up is incredible and as ever, with the Chicago legend surrounding himself with the hottest young talent. Sonic scientist, Isaiah Collier joins on saxophone. Suffice to say, he doesn’t disappoint. El’Zabar leads the ensemble through hypnotic groove after groove, providing Collier with ample space to improvise and uplift. Following stand-out performances on ‘America The Beautiful’ and a long-term member of the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble (see ‘Be Known Ancient/Future/Music’), Corey Wilkes, one of best trumpeters in the world today, returns and shines once again. Keyboard wizard Justin Dillard, who truly shone on his collaboration with El’Zabar on ‘Spirit Groove’, returns for another stellar performance, steeped in the heritage of Dr. Lonnie Smith and McCoy Tyner.

Recorded in December 2020 in Chicago, ‘A Time For Healing’ is not only the answer to the urgent questions asked by El’Zabar’s ‘America the Beautiful’; its’ spiritual and ever probing human journey offers a regenerative opus in the face of growing global anxiety. After a steady rise to international recognition through 2 LPS and several EP’s already since 2018, Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange joins the Get Together family for their first recording session in Europe. “Prayer For Peace” — A 7 track journey through atmospheric scenes, broken to deep four on floor rhythms and colourful top lines. From the Jazz-funk inspired 'Prayer For Peace' to the infectious Boogie twilight of 'Cadillac’ this is a record that is equally well suited to dance floor applications as it is to an intimate night with the turntable spinning and the sensual herbs burning.

This Recording represents the Berlin chapter of the Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange. The curated jam band moniker of Ziggy Zeitgeist, the experiment having emerged from the murky depths of the Melbourne underground. Zeitgeist arrived in Berlin in summer 2019 wasting no time in assembling a talented and diverse group of assorted freaks from many corners of the world to bring their own languages, melodies, rhythms and swagger on this cross continental meeting point.

This session captures the raw energetic fusion of such diverse and innovative musicians scene co-existing in the Techno capital of the world. This city already has its own sound, its own attitude. It's no wonder artists gather from every corner of the world to discover themselves through the lens of the city. That is the sound of the ‘Zeitgeist Berlin era’ the group explores deeper, darker sounds of the club emerging from their signature hip slinging disco, funk fusion.

For such an occasion the recording was engineered and mixed by platinum producer / engineer Axel Reinemer in the esteemed Jazzanova studios. 3 days of steamy Berlin summer looking over the ring-bahn towards the swamps of the Tegel Forest to the north. Spiritual jazz interludes flirt delicately with bouncing Brazilian rhythms. Psychedelic dub-grooves meander before exploding into bursts of finessed energy, before locking into steady and deep-house rollers.... All live, All together in the room, all real human spirit imbued in every note, with the level of production to easily stand up on the club system This is the kind of record that is as diverse as it is essential in every serious collectors artillery.

A wonderful album full of Balearic vibes, funky riffs and mellow moments, originally released in 1980.

BBE Music are excited to announce this highly sought after album titled ‘Will & James Ragar One” which will be reissued on Vinyl and CD as well as across digital platforms.

James and Will Ragar hail from Louisiana, where their early education into music began. At a young age they moved to New Orleans - where they heard live Jazz for the first time. This inspiration is demonstrated through their free approach to this album.

Their natural evolution through the Louisiana club scene saw them develop and hone their talents of adding that southern swag to covers they did, almost making them their own.

‘Will and James Ragar One’ is a blend of acoustic and electric tones, carefully and cohesively put together by the brothers.

‘As the Day Grows Tired’ is the first song on the album and one of the first songs James wrote.

The theme for ‘She’s Laughter’ is about returning home to someone you love and features a heavy guitar solo. ‘My Shining Sun’ has an unusual jazz form and is an ode to the joy of playing music. ‘Don’t Wish’ was inspired by a jazz chord progression that was a favourite, James played the solo on a pearwood soprano recorder. Gary Roberts played percussion on the session and also played the flute on ‘Just a Wanderer’.

On the right, Olivier Cavaller, embodiment of De La Bonne Musique. He may be described as a man of many trades, DJ, Broadcaster (Le Mellotron, Campus FM, D59B ...), Musical Curator, Photographer, his universe extends from Jazz to Disco with a strong addiction for Tropical music.
In the center, LLORCAVALLER, the meeting of two worlds, electronic and organic, a fusion of genres for a mixed result able to groove any dance floor.
