This piece was originally made as a contribution for the RADIO ON RADIO broadcast by the Office For Joint Administrative Intelligence. It was transmitted on Dublin Digital Radio (Dublin) and on Cashmere Radio (Berlin). The show contains archive material of propaganda and pirate radio, sounds of radio distortion, mysterious signals and disinformation.

Our piece was composed out of equivocal archive material, put into a new order, compiling an altered narrative of itself. This hoorspel is inspired by Orson Welles’ radio play broadcast in 1938 on CBS Radio. The episode became famous for convincing a part of its listening audience a Martian invasion was actually happening at that moment.

De Tapijttegels is a duo ensemble comprised of Sid Dankers and Nadia van Essen. Through analogue live performances, audio publications and video symphonies they create dusty, yet electrifying sounds.

During the interaction of this somewhat naive orchestral duo, they examine the context and immediate environment in which they are located. These interactions are often composed out of fieldrecordings, casette samples, unstable synthesizers and/or video material.
