Dee Dee’s Picks is a platform that releases music and promotes culture from Switzerland. Currently a host on Echobox Radio, Amsterdam.

Summer’s around the corner yet ashened morning clouds linger above. I was invited by Comme Des Larmes for an upcoming podcast they had in mind. The instructions were simple:  "something that lets tears flow when listening…"

Therefore I compiled a selection of musical pieces coming from a different place, from a different time, written by different people. Songs about sleeping with your friend’s significant other, songs about deception, songs about blue skies being perceived as the premise for a saddened day… A collection of works that got me through bad times, as well as happier moments.

Music to the likes of the mysterious darkness of forests, the expanses of scenic plateaus and the ruggedness of the rock’s edge. Music that leads to the inevitable confrontation with the loneliness of your ego. Music to explore new soundscapes. Music with sound cascades derived from melodic lines that turn into narrative elegies, creating sound images that lie down melancholy like a fine morning mist. May every square wave oscillator produced by the synths used on these songs shine over your tiring efforts to become a better person and leave you in cathartic bliss as they pierce your heart like a knife.

You be the judge. Without further ado, hereby an hour mix of pain relief; heartbreak songs from Switzerland.
